Hello.

Can I buy any T-mobile SK3 and pop in my sim and still make phone calls and SMS? My daughter has been begging for a SK3 for months but I dont want to pay 30$/month for data. Long as she can SMS and call I think she'll be happy.

Whats the point in having one then. She wants it for mysapce, facebook and aim. Then she is just going to be mad. And its 20 bucks not 30.

If she's gonna be "mad", she doesn't deserve any new anything.

to be honest with you, don't get a sidekick without the 20.00 data plan.

I say this because without it, the phone isnt worth it.

Nothing will be saved on the device but SMS messages.

The sidekick connects to the backend server, which stores all of your information, such as contacts, notes, applications, reminders, so on.

Without this, anytime the device restarts or battery comes out, EVERYTHING is lost, and nothing will come back, unless you have the GPRS data plan to "save the day" so to speak.

The sidekick is a amazing phone, but it really will not perform that good without it.

I have a extra sidekick without the data plan, and its okay, but I wouldnt use it everyday, just because of that.

You can always try it out and see!

If it looses power or you soft reset.

The Sidekick is not worth it without it's data plan. You can not even send instant messages without it's data plan, as even the IM application hops online to sign onto AOL's servers. She would be better off with another phone, might I suggest something like the T-Mobile Dash, and the OZ Messenger that comes with it allows IMing over SMS.

Yeah, the sidekick is pretty useless without the data plan.

But the $20 for the Sidekick Unlimited is not a bad deal really. But its up to you. Just really the SK is not worth it without the plan.

I will call this peer pressure and being "in" because everyone else at school has it.

Sidekick is garbage.

I don't have an advice for you. I don't know how old she is. I may take "Orlando_65" suggestion though.

But check out my comparison chart though.
