Second of all, you should call Palm if you don't have insurance through Sprint. 1-866-750-7256 Palm is responsible for the problem, not Sprint, and the tech at Sprint said Palm is replacing his, but told me to just use my insurance through Sprint as it was a lot faster. I would also send a complaint to customer care about that manager. Just because your phone can 'make calls' doesn't mean it's working. Anyone with that mindset can go back to their oldhat landlines. (Also, I was dealing in person. They'll replace your phone for about anything if you have insurance) |
Is it possible to pay the $50 for insurance and do a 755 swap in person?|

They wouldn't do an advance exchange, because the phone "still makes calls". Is it possible to pay the $50 for insurance and do a 755 swap in person? The crazy thing is, back when the local store wouldn't replace my phone, I called Tier 2 tech support, who sent me over to assurion (or whoever the insurance company is), and the insurance rep said he WOULD give me a 755p. Unfortunately, I forgot my credit card at home, so he placed the order and left it in a "waiting for payment" state. When I called back to make the payment, a supervisor ended up getting on the line and told me they couldn't give me a 755p because they had the 700p in stock. God I hate Sprint's customer service (assurion too). |

That's usually my motto. And, generally speaking, I'm VERY happy with my 700p. But, there are a few problems with it that drive me nuts:
1. every few days it will refuse to wake up when I press any of the buttons that normally wake it. I'll inevitably press 2 or 3 other buttons after getting no response. After what seems like forever (maybe only 30 seconds in reality) the phone will wake up, quickly go thru all the screens related to the different buttons that I had pressed, then go blank again.... all in about 3 seconds. Then we repeat the process 1 or 2 more times before it stays awake - and, we're ok for a few days until the next time it has this fit. 2. twice in recent weeks it locked/crashed/froze (whatever?) sometime after I plugged in the AC charger at night and removed the charger in the Morning. When i insert the charging cord at night, I heard the audible tone and the LED lit up normally. When I removed the cord in the morning, there was no audible tone and I believe the LED stayed lit red (can't swear to that) and the whole device was completely non-responsive. Needed to do a soft reset, after which it was back to life, with a near dead battery. 3. every 2 or 3 weeks, Versamail will stop displaying mail that it received. When I switch into a particular mailbox, I'll see the progress bar begin to appear on the bottom of the screen - as a blip - then disappear. Same will happen in each of the other mailboxes and will continue to behave this way 'til I do a soft reset. After the soft reset all is well for a few weeks. I just started to do a soft reset every day or two (if I remember) as a sort of preventive health measure. It hasn't been long enough to know whether or not this will help. I'm hoping the 1.10 update fixes these two issues. Do you notice any difference in your 1.08 and 1.10 units with regard to these types of behaviors? FWIW, mine is a little over 1 year old. So, it's been around the block a few times. I don't know if these Treos would benefit from a hard reset every now and then (sort of like reformating and reloading the OS on a Windows computer)? I believe updating to 1.10 does a hard reset as part of the update process. But, if 1.10 does not address these issues, I'm not sure I want to install it. |

The other thing to be aware of is that 3rd party apps are notorious for causing strange behavior of the device. If you are using any 3rd party apps, try re-installing them one-by-one after the hard reset. Try them out for a day or two to isolate the infringing application. |

The other day, I realized that most of my memo records (about 600 of 720) got deleted on the Treo. I was able to restore those from the Desktop. Today, I missed a call and by the time I got to the phone, it was in the process of rebooting. When it powered back up the VM indicator was displayed. I had 3 VMs from as far back as 9/23. Those calls never rang thru to my phone and I never got a VM indicator for them. Even stranger, the call log shows NONE of those 3 calls. What's up with that? Anyway, I figured it was time to do the hard reset. So, I did. However, there doesn't seem to be a way for me to delete PocketTunes 3.0.9 and nothing in the FAQ at NormSoft. I'm leaving a support request with them. But, if anyone here knows how to delete this app, I'd appreciate the instructions. I'd also appreciate opinions as to how likely/unlikely it is that this app can be causing problems. Also, there are a bunch of files that I was afraid to delete - because I have no idea what they are. If anyone knows what apps these are related to and whether or not it's ok to delete these, please let me know... -BFNTPRecord -BFViewer -HSTraceDatabase -HSTraceDatabaseHead -HsSysRecource68K - PACEDataStoreReser.. and a whole bunch of files that begin with PACERsrcDB... Thanks for listening and for any assistance/advice you can provide. |
