backlight issue on blackjack? battery ran empty

before it got empty i was continuing to work on it. it gave me the low battery warning...then continued on as normal.
it gave me a second battery warning and then stopped turning on backlight/phone/data functions kept turning off.
finally the phone shut down.
i plugged phone into charger- turned it on...it's charging just fine. problem is, the backlight is not turning on.
i tested this by simply locking the phone- when i hit the power button to turn on the screen, it stays dim. then i'd hit the left key and * to get the phone unlocked and the backlight usually came on at this point.
backlight isn't coming on....

did you take the battery out or reset it?
