How come nobody want to buy 904sh anymore?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: liquidjazz

i have seen this phone started at upper $400 (in US dollars) in the beginning and now drop to under $300.

Sellers keep claiming the phone will be unlocked soon to try to convince buyer to buy it with confidence

this phone is already discontinued and outdated, maybe that why nobody interested anymore

except the screen, i notice every function is very similar to 903sh....what make people want to buy this phone instead 903 is it the same 3.2mp camera like in 903?

Posted by: Junglizt1210

It can't be unlocked yet... that's why. Whereas the 903SH can.

this phone is already becoming old....wonder ppl will take their effort to unlock it

Posted by: Junglizt1210

The Vodafone 801SA took 2 years and a bit to unlock... it was still unlocked. And yes, people will still bother... but they're not going to get anywhere if they can't figure out a way to break it's protection.

It seems like it will never be unlocked. Waste of money.

Posted by: 4flava

Yeah, unfortunately I've come to the conclusion that it's never gonna be unlocked so I have to accept it.

dead money just sitting there all lonely >.<

i see this phone features are not really far apart from 903's, and the styling wasn't a success that why they went back to the shape of 903

actually, what make 904 worthy to purchase other than the 2.4 screen that's superior to 903

the difference between this phone and 903 is not significant?

are you one of those who bought this phone what do you find the major difference between this phone and 903

Posted by: riel

I personally like the more angular curves that the 903 has.

Posted by: ace587

from the looks of it, the 904sh has little chance of being unlocked, but were looking forward, God knows whats happening with the crack teams in China.

Probably, you said that because you never had 904.
904 vs. 903:
Better screen (VGA instead of SVGA), better sound quality (people who have ever used 903 understand me), 904's camera has stabilizer (less chances to get a blurry pictures), center button is more handy. Plus, 904 has GPS (don't tell that it works only in Japan, I know that), face recognition option, better design and very quality materials (including SIM-lock ) Plastic is a little bit coarse, that's why you can forget about very small scratches which we have on our black piano surfaces.
This phone was better than 903 and it's japaness tradition to make anything everytime better. The only one BIG MINUS ... it's still locked That's why I sold mine week ago, because I don't have any patiece left ...

Posted by: ace587

we havent been receiving any updates lately, maybe its taking that long to unlock it

Posted by: borgis

well... even bb5 phones took ages before it received "freedom"

Posted by: fung_pi

given up hope...=(

Posted by: sclaz21

why must you bring up this sensitive topic sniff sniff. most of us have given up on 904sh. but i'd still get one for fun even if its just another paper weight.

i gave my 904 up a long time ago and sold it for ~$400 (lost around $150). Lucky i sold it earlier else it would be even worst -_-*

Besides, its all about the 910sh now. If that could be unlocked... (i dont remember but it supports sim cards right?!)

Yes, it supports sim cards, but only the Softbank issued ones. As in no GSM.

I wish I had the heart to sell my 904, but because there really hasn't been a GSM-capable successor, combined with the tiny shred of hope I have left, I've opted to keep it.

so basically softbank sims like those voda sims in those locked 904s. I wouldnt mind really using a locked 910sh. As oppose to a locked 904sh...

tis true. early models 6630/702nk, 6682, n70 are free unlock with free software (the first person who ever made this is Dejan, and his tool was free released; the sellers, unless they have the expensive box, are using this originally free software to unlock these phones).

there are a few other ways now to unlock the newer BB5 models, but they are same price as 10x ps3! haha.

about the 904:

the unlock might come. its not simply a matter of nobody or somebody workin on it... it just cant be unlocked by someone working on it. "someone working on it" could work for 1000 years before he finds the solution. as said before, the only way to unlock it is to disable the protection:

if you were james bond and you had 2 options to get the secret files:

1. shoot all the bad guys and risk your life, 1 vs 1000 guys... of course james bond can do it... but most of us will fail, and die and nobody care.

or 2. pretend to be a bad guy, sneak past the defenses, then take the files.

option 2 is the only way the 904 will get unlocked. as the protection cannot be easily defeated (nothing is impossible ), the files needed to get access to the phone's lock area must be either stolen or leaked. just like the previous SonyEricsson (db2000, db2010, db2015) platforms were.

i hope this dejan guy can come up with something that can unlock sharp phones then =\

Posted by: Ultraman666

Ya angel agreed still have my 904sh in hopes someday that may happen, I like the N95 but its not a Sharp

Posted by: charlosian

yeah, it does seem like this phone is hard to unlock. but is it possible to just used a locked one in the states? on like global roaming? becuase i have been really interested in the phone, but not able or wanting to to get an unlocked phone, because i dont have a contract with cingular. im already on contract with verizon with my mother. but if i can use this phone locked, and just pay roaming, i would do it, then i would be able to use the phone easier when traveling to japan and contacting japanese friends from the states by phone.

You need to get a japanese plan and the roaming is going to cost a fortune. Might as well buy a 903SH.

Posted by: charlosian

yeah, but if i get the 903sh, then i need to start a new plan with cingular probably. or is there a way to just get an international sim with singular to use the phone?

The problem is that you will need to get a Japanese plan with vodafone or I guess softbank now. So you will need to get that all setup over there and then bring it back here. You dont need a new plan to get a 903SH, just buy an unlocked one and go prepaid with Cingular or T-mobile. No plans and even though its $$$ will still cost less than roaming in the states on a japanese plan

Posted by: johnmoon

Its sad but this phone doesnt seem to be unlockable at the moment

remember some people were saying
"it will be done soooon, I have my source"
or
"once DB2020 breaks, it will for sure they are the same blah blah"

we all know that SE DB2020 phones are unlockable now but sharp isnt

Posted by: Ultraman666

Well someday someone will figure it out and I will have the 904sh to try out and play with or even give it to someone

i see, so the prepaid phone will come wit a sim card?
and i will be able to make international calls? and do global roaming?
