Anyone sign an iPhone NDA?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: DaveGee

I posted this in the Apple forum to someone who was excited his training was tomorrow and was commenting about the person (Apple rep I assume) who visited the store the week prior and how easy going he was up to and until he brought out the NDA that the people that were to be trained the following week needed to sign (or they couldn't get trained) it was at that time he got stone serious....

Anyway that is what prompted me to impart this bit of wisdom...

Well that's cause Apple **will** sue anyone (and I mean anyone) for failure to comply with a signed NDA. Take my word on this, I've been following Apple for year and year and years.... Apple has gobs of Lawyers and often does 'sneaky things' as a method to find out exactly who leaked information.

What's sneaky... By revealing purposefully wrong (but otherwise harmless) information to different groups of people. Something that you'd think was otherwise mundane information - like the price of the data plan being $29.99 being told to group x and $24.99 being told to group y and still some other price to group z.

When news leaks and happens to make mention of the data the price they immediately narrowed down (basically) where the leak came from.

This is just a made up example but you get the basic idea....

Trust me, Apple is NOTORIOUS for suing ANYONE that breaks an NDA - anyone here that has to sign one... do yourself a big favor and don't take a chance leaking news... It could cost you a fortune in legal fees. (sad... but very true)
....

You can feel free to do whatever you want to do but I'd just be extra careful... Unlike most other companies Apple takes leaks outa-control-serious.

Yeah I posted that :P

The Apple guy was very serious, I know that if I said anything to anyone I would get sued for everything I have. It's the first time in my life I have signed an NDA and probably won't be my last. I'm sure I'll have to sign another one before the 2nd Generation iPhone is released.

But yeah, if your a Cingular rep or an Apple rep, don't take the chance of leaking anything. I feel OK right now because I don't know anything, but I have a feeling after tomorrow's training I'm gonna lose my mind.

I bid you good luck!

The benefit of being an AT&T rep is I don't have to sign ****.

I don't think they have given us anything to leak.

I concur with blessd, we haven't been given much information. CSR reps don't get NDA's to sign, but they get nice emails that say "violation of cobc is a term able offense."

Yup, training stuff just dropped today. Silly me thinking Apple would give us an iPhone demo weeks ahead of launch.

Our store has been getting walk-ins and calls about the iPhone. One dude asked me how much money would it take to get him an iPhone at launch.

i'm a device tester for cingular, and no one in my market is even getting one. the west region device tester may get one, but no one is even sure about that.

Posted by: duddy

No one said we were getting one, just sales material and info about the data plans.

Posted by: anubis9278

we still dont know if the indirect channel will be able to carry it...as of now its no. apple stores and cor only. thats the training i got on it.

Posted by: lowkey16

my mgr said that it was mentioned on their marketing conference call this week that the stores in our market would all be getting 1 within 2 weeks with a sim card already in it. the phone is not going to be allowed to leave the store and is for reps to become comfortable enough with the phone to be able to explain the buyers how to operate it by the launch day.

So many mindless consumers wanting a device they don't even know about yet. In addition will not purchase with a data plan cause they just want to own it, not actually use it.

We already have real devices that handle e-mail (blackberry) and internet (opera mini or nokia symbian browsers) much better than Apple's touchscreen over-hyped expensive PDA.

Everyone should know our company is doing this just for the ride to help sales. Its a damn shame cause its not any revolution just a bunch of bs.

Would you mind telling me how you got into this career? What sort of educational background do you have? I am working on my MSEE at Georgia Tech, and this is my dream job. I have been specializing in RF and Analog IC Design, and I had an internship working for Freescale Semiconductor on power amplifier design. Thanks for your help!

i'm a switch tech. i called the west region handset device tester and asked if i could help. you have to work for a company first, then make friends with sales people. sales has someone called device engineer or something like that. i spoke with him, and he gave me the contacts. the region handset device tester works with the national device test group and directly with the vendors.

Indirect will NOT carry the iPhone.

I believe Cingular.com won't even carry it. Only Apple stores, apple.com & cingular COR stores.

Posted by: colione

At launch it's only COR stores, apple.com and apple stores.

The press release said sometime after select indirect stores and att's website will begin offering it also.
