The Official HTC S630 (Cavalier) Thread

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: DialekT

Yup. Figured I'd try my luck at getting another sticky. Feels too good. Naw but all jokes aside..Let's discuss the features of the Dopod c730 that separate it from the former HTC S620. I am hard pressed to pull the trigger on this device since I loved my HTC S620/Dash so much.

Note: Mods feel free to change the thread title to "The Dopod C730/HTC
S630 Thread" if need be. Essentially similar devices..

Following topics hopefully will be discussed:

- Camera - Quality, Interface, Video Recording Capability? Flash capability, How it holds up in not so lit situations?

- Email Solutions: Push, Push via a 2007 Exchange server?, Blackberry Connect, Standard Polling...

-Joggr Strip: How much of an improvement it is, sensitivity, how much more are you less prone to accidentally hitting it with your face, responsiveness, etc

-Handset: Speakerphone Quality/Loudness, Quality of speaker when it comes to rings/playing media/music, ear piece quality/loudness

-OS Speed: Can this device finally keep up with your speed typing? Responsiveness upon opening menu items/programs

-Bugs from previous HTC S620 still apparent?: ie: The unstoppable/unsilenceable sms ringtone notification? The overly obnoxious unstoppable notification in your ear while you are on the phone (alerting you of new voicemail/new sms). xt9 bug still apparent?

-Any other new features of the Dopod c730 not found on the older HTC S620

Let's keep this thread updated and active because this is definitely an exciting time for those have been waiting...

Keytouch Feature

I'll start this thread off with an interesting feature..

Here's a nice youtube clip about a new feature called "Keytouch". Seems pretty interesting if you ask me: "Dopod C730 comes with a nifty add-on called Keytouch that assists in typing English T9 and Simplified Chinese (pinyin) also comes with copy/cut/paste. "

I got my C730 a couple of days ago. I am still deciding to use it with Tmobile or Cingular LOL

I'm thinking of purchasing this phone, it seems to have everything I want (spec wise), however...the one thing I'm concerned about is the battery life...I've not seen an indepth review about this phone yet and was wondering how the battery life held up?

Posted by: john1027

I posted some stuff already in the release date thread but I'll cut/past it over here. I asked Mike C. if he would consider makeing this a sticky and maybe making it one as you suggested. Makes more sense than to post this stuff in a relaease date thread.

First, I'd say to those who might be contemplating this purchase, that if they don't know this already, Dopod has been a company (now part of HTC) whose main customer base is the Far East/Australia, including China. With that in mind, the customizations on the phone are geared towards that targeted customer base. It takes a little more tweaking than usual to get a Dopod phone optimized for use in the Western Hemisphere. There is always the warranty issue also, and in this case, its one year on the device. Bear in mind again that it’s probably going to have to go to Hong Kong, if there is an issue.

Here are just some random observations (Day 1).
-Phone is sim unlocked. I had no problem getting it up and running with Cingular using the standard Cingular settings.
-As Jorg (carsmovie) said earlier, it’s a very quick o/s. For those who want a fast processor, this will not disappoint, imo.
-I am getting 3G in my area and see the 3G symbol on top and have also seen the H for HSDPA a couple times. -Under phone setting, you have the option to select bands. You can choose network type (GSM, WCDMA, or Auto); you can also choose band type (Euro band, US band, or Japan band). I left them on auto and auto for the time being and seem to work fine. This will however allow one to quickly go back and forth from a gsm only setting (if you want to optimize battery use) to a 3G for time you want the connection speeds. There is also a separate setting to toggle HSDPA on/off.

-The c730 seems to go back and forth from 3G to edge without issue. I have only seen "searching" for a couple seconds once.
-Phone seems to charge quickly.
-My initial take on the battery is just what others have said already and it is not going to be as good as the Excalibur but that is to be expected with 3G and a 400 MHz processor. Switching between programs is almost a quick as you press the button. Bear in mind that I haven't "junked" this up to much yet.
-Phone comes with a Cyberon English to Chinese dictionary that can be removed;
-Phone comes with Cyberon voice command which I removed and then installed MS VC 1.6. It works fine just as it did with the dash wm6 upgrade. I paired a Moto H700 without a problem. I have not been able to get it to call initiate with VC yet from the device. The registry change to get this to work in the dash with wm6 is not applicable as the line in the audio gateway file is already set to the value described in the tweak. I just need to play around with this a little more to see if I missed a setting somewhere.
-For some reason, my appointments will not show up in Agenda One. They show-up fine in the built-in calendar but not in AG1. Someone else posted over at xda that they had this issue and also mentioned they had the same problem with Papyrus.
-You can just press the fn (function) button to toggle off xt9 and into the other keybd entry modes without having to hit the space bar also.

My biggest dislike is the keybd for a couple reasons. If you look at the pictures posted earlier in this thread by carsmovie, you will see his HTC model has green colored symbols as the color on the upper keys. On the c730, they chose to use brown. It makes them much harder to see. All of the keys are the same color and they chose not to do what they did in the Excalibur where they made the dial keys a different color to help see them better when dialing. The keybd dialing numbers are also much smaller in size than they were on the Excalibur models. Lastly, they chose to flatten out the keys somewhat and its make feeling your way from key to key much harder. The keys on the Excalibur were a little high and tapered and give a better tactile feeling when you slide your thumbs/fingers along. I'm not the fastest text entry person in the world, but there appears to be no issue with entry lag time.

I do like the overall design and shape. The build is good, but I am finding the hard plastic they chose to use for the frame to be slippery. I've already put on a couple pieces of egrips I had left over from a previous set to help make it less apt to slip out of my hands. I liked the rubberized plastic in the Excalibur but for whatever reason, they went with a more traditional hard plastic with the Cavalier. As noted in some of the reviews, the battery cover has a positive release button on the bottom that you push in to release. The door seems to be on securely but there is a slight play but I don't think it will ever come off without releasing the catch. I also don't like the standard font that is on the Dopod o/s and need to figure out how to change it to the font the dash uses.

I'll try and point out anything else noteworthy as I get a little more time with the phone.

You can get it from the Dopod web site but you have to join as a member first. You do not have to purchase first. It took me a few minutes to figure out the best way but once I did, it was easy. On their site, chose the global option on the top right. when asked for country, chose Hong Kong, chose English, go the the support area, you will see links to join. Chose thinking about buying if you haven't purchased a product already. Once you do, you will get an activation email, activate the account, sign in and you can download the manual and quick start in English. Its a 24mb pdf file.

If you don’t want to join the Dopod support group, here is a link for the manual.

The C730 comes with a Key Touch's Multi Play 1.0 installed. From what I can see, it basically took and improved on the xt9 and incorported the cut, paste, and copy functions into the d-pad. There isn't much documentation and the vendor site says it is very intuitive for the user.

When you are in a field/function using keybd input, you can press the function button and toggle between abc, 12#, and 12#. As you type a tray opens on the bottom of the screen (just like wm6 in the dash) that contains various possible words that you are trying to type. The big difference that I can see is that unlike xt9, the Multi Play does not auto fill the word where you are typing and lets you decide if you want to highlight it and insert or you just want to keep typing. It also appears that the words it suggests are also based on some thing you aleady might have entered eslewhere. As an example, I originally entered in my email address, etc. into my exchange set-up screens and when I started typing something similar in a txt msg, parts of those earleir entries showed up as possible word choices for me to select.

The controls for Multi Play are accessed by pressing the function key and the space bar. It brings up a little on screen display that resembles the dpad and lets you select various functions and options. There aren't a whole lot of options. You can toggle on/off AutoHide function for the On Screen Display (OSD), and can toggle on/off the Display Candidates List (the predictive/suggested words on the botto of the screen during txt input), and can choose English or Chinese.

I think I will like the text part but the cut, copy, and paste functions are a little more involved but certainly a welcomed addition. I've always used Vito Cut,Copy, Paste and it seems to me that Vito's operation is just a little easier to use, at least to me.

From KeyTouch's Web Site: About MultiPlay

MultiPlay Smart Input is breakthrough technology providing a dramatically-improved data entry method for use in the fast-growing mobile phone market. This "software keyboard" solution offers full PC-style functionality for easy and fast entry of text, symbols and numbers on a regular mobile phone keypad. Uniquely, it adds functions such as Select, Cut, Copy and Paste to smart handheld devices. The system is intuitive and very easy to learn. By using the phone's pointing device to navigate an on-screen display of directionally-mapped keys, it provides a complete multi-dimensional keyboard.FAQs: http://www.keytouch.net/support01.htm#01

Is anybody using the screen protector provided? And if so what do you think so far?

Posted by: john1027

Just so readers know what you are referring to, it came with a privacy screen protector. I did not use it and am using a non-glare boxware product for the dash.

Did you install yours?

Posted by: globecode

no, I have not yet.

I am not going to write much of a review.. I got mines since 6/9/07 (Saturday) and been using it on AT&T (Cingular) till today Monday 6/11/07 and still have 3 bars left. Probably my battery will die quicker if I am using 3G as the phone is currently set to EDGE/GPRS only

Did you just leave it on standby or use any of the features? Seems to be a general consensus that this thing runs out of power after 1 day of average use.

To respond to your other post, they could be releasing it but as far as I know and have heard they are not. If it was 3 weeks I would have had the new ROM by now. I had the Vox a few months before release and I would receive new ROM's weekly. The week before I got 3 in a few days. It could be and I hope it is so I can finally update this phone.

As for the other poster in the closed topic, I forgot his name, I have yet to successfully extract the ROM. Not as easy as I thought.

I have a cingular blue card and cannot get my VM to work right. Whenever I use #1 speed dial I get a prompt asking me to put in my VM number. Has anybody else run into this and able to fix it?

Also, does anybody know if you can get the Voice Commander from the Dash WM6 ROM off and install it on the C730?

Without anything running except and the phone set to 3G, it will drop about 20% of its battery life in a 6 hour period. The battery is a 1050 mAh (vs the 960 mAh) in the Excalibur but now is powering a 3G phone operating on a 400mHz cpu. The increased capabilites are certainly going to effect battery consumption. It will all depend on how you use the device, but I expect that most will get a good day from the device but will have to recharge at night. With lighter use, you might stretch that out to 1.5 days. Just as with the Blackjack and others, if you set it on GSM/edge only except when you need the 3g, that will have a postive effect on the battery life.

I recieved my Dopod 730 this morning. I got Email via ActiveSync running, and also text messaging. But Ihaven't figured out yet the settings necessary for MMS.

Has anyone got these settings running yet? I know how to do it on WM5 but this phone is WM6 and it doesn't have the same path that the DASH had (or has)

Posted by: john1027

This is how to do it with Cingular. I believe you would only need to change the settings where appropriate to match what you have for T-Mobile.

MMS Settings Cingular

Open the messaging application;
Select MMS>menu>settings>menu>MMSC Settings>then delete the settings you don’t need (e.g. 1010); open the default entry and set it as follows:

o Name: Cingular MMS
o MMSC URL: http://mmsc.cingular.com
o WAP Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
o Port 80
o Connect Via: The Internet
o Max. Sending Size: (set your preferences – linited to 300K in WM6
o WAP Version: WAP 2.0

Posted by: tjhyp

So I got the settings below from Tmobile, and put them in. When I try to send an MMS, the little arrow icon shows up on the envelope, and on the top of the creen it shows the animated icon pulsing the diagonal arrow like it's uploading, this goes on awhile, then it stops and a little clock icon appears on the MMS envelope in the folder. And thats it.

So it apparently is working with Cingular? Has anyone actually got it to work with Tmobile?

John I noticed you had a WM6 DASH and now the C730, any comments on comparing them? Maybe I'll go back to my DASH and just upgrade it to WM6.

The Dash with wm6 at least in my case works very well. There are many who have had issues though and you can find plenty of threads that discuss the pros and cons here at HoFo esp. in the T-Mobile Mobile thread. I much prefer the case material and keybd in the dash to the C730. 3G is working well for me with the C730 but isn't a deal breaker one way or the other as I only use it for light web use and rss feeds. Its mostly a work phone device for me. The biggest plus is the processor speed. It might be hard to go back to the dash after using the C730. The Dash works well; its just that the C730 is noticeably quicker as would be expected.

Okay, I'm officially an idiot. Can some tell me how to set up the HSDPA data connection on the C730? I'm getting an error when I try using the WAP connection using the following settings:

Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: wap.cingular
User name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks

Hello Cavalier early adopters! I was hoping you might be able to help with a few (hopefully easy) requests:

1. Could someone please post some vibrant photos from the camera? Early reviews from Russian Web sites look very gray and washed out, but I'm not sure if that's due to the camera or just the Eastern bloc.

2. How is performance while listening to Bluetooth stereo music? A2DP causes a massive performance hit on my TyTN, so I'm hoping the Cavalier improves in this area.

3. Any insights on when the HTC version of the Cavalier will drop? I saw it's on HTC's Web site (here: http://www.htc.com/product/03-product_s630.htm), so I'm hoping we're close. Any reliable tips?

Thanks all!

Nevermind. I figured it out.

It seems that the bug related to the inability of Papyrus, Facade, and Agenda One to display appointments on the S730 is related to the use of a localized version of the HK English/Chinese Windows Mobile o/s and Pocket Outlook. SBSH seem to have the most information and are working on a solution. There's a thread in the Facade Spt Forums. I contacted Developer One but haven't heard from them.

just out of curiousity where have yall been gettin yers? im debating whether to pull the trigger and get a dash off ebay or wait for this phone to come out since my contract expires in 2 weeks with VZW.

I can answer one question and I hope the other is true.

First off I have the HTC Cavalier with an older ROM. I use this phone with my SE HBH-970 and the A2DP works much better than it does with my Tytn. I have not come into any problems yet. The switch from taking a call and going back to music has had no issues. I believe you would be happy with it over the Tytn.

As for the release, I keep hearing that HTC will release it and that they won't. I hope they do because I could use an upgrade for this phone. Everytime I ask for a newer ROM they tell me that they dont have one due to the fact that they stopped working on this phone. I'm not sure who to believe.

I dont take any pictures, with or without my phone, so I cant help you there but someone else might be able to.

Posted by: globecode

I only have Facade, but there is a beta version that fixes the appts not showing. All I did was post in a thread that talked about the issue and Taylor PM'ed me and gave me the link to the beta.

As for the camera, I only have taken a few pictures in very low light. I thought the same thing about the graying, but I chalked that up to when and where I took the pictures.

Thanks for the insight, indiglo. Really glad to hear A2DP is much improved on the Cavalier; I'm getting very tired of the occasional skips on my TyTN, so my hope is that faster devices like the Cavalier will make for a more seamless A2DP experience.

Now if only we could confirm HTC's version of this device. I wouldn't mind picking up the Dopod version, but I have it in my head that HTC's version (if there is one) may have a higher resale value due to HTC's better brand recognition in the Western Hemisphere... I dunno.

Posted by: KeilwerthSX90R

For others with the Dopod version, I have a couple of quick questions which I can't seem to figure out:

1. Is it possible to get rid of the network connection wizard? It doesn't like ATT and pops up every time I turn the phone on. It's not listed under the uninstall program options.

2. Is it possible to change the key assignment for the voice record button?

Thanks

I used Smart Mobile Gadgets. Regarding your decision, if you are waiting to see if a North American carrier adopts this phone, you might be waiting awhile as no one has announced they will do so. For that matter, there still is no hard evidence that HTC is even going to release their own branded version although logically it would seem that they would. Price-wise, you will do a lot better with the Dash and WM6.

Haven't been able to do so yet. I got rid of everything in the startup that could be remotely associated and it will still pop up after a soft reset. Haven't tried too hard and I've seen threads elsewhere where others can't figure it out either. It maybe in the rom. It will never recognize any of the North American carrier settings as it is programmed only with Far East setttings.

Are you running the installed Cyberon voice command?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't delete the Cyberon voice command but I'm not using it/haven't tried it.

p.s. another shout out for Smart Mobile Gadgets.

With respect why would ANYONE want to buy a prototype Cavalier for $719 for regular phone use (unless they like collectibles) when one can get the Dopod c730 from eBay shipped from Hong Kong from a reputable seller for $540 or even get it from SMG for $600?

Yeah that is basically what i was waiting for, but im gonna leave wm5 on it and buy one off of ebay. However if i do decide to get one from TMob, do they usually honour the warranty?

Posted by: john1027

I'm not the best one to comment on T-Mobile as my accounts are with AT&T. If you buy one directly from Tmobile, you'd be covered under their full warranty. If you bought it on eBay and had an account with them, I'd bet that they would at least help you with the warranty issues. Either way, with a dash, its going to be serviced in the U.S., and you don't have the warranty service issues you have if you buy a device that hasn't yet been released in the U.S. yet.

hi folks - I got my HK C730 on Monday & am happy with it, but of course I've been trying to tweak it a bit!

Attached is a zip file three .cabs inside. Each of these is an easy way to apply a registry tweak:

vitoenable0000101b.cab - lets Vito CopyPaste work
gpscom4.cab - allows a bluetooth GPS that's set to COM4: work w/ Google Maps
cleartype.cab - turns on ClearType throughout the system (the HK C730, at least, doesn't have this enabled by default)

With the Vito tweak, CopyPaste can live side-by-side with KeyTouch MultiPlay. There's no need for a VitoCopyPaste.exe.ini file. The version of CopyPaste I've been using is the prerelease 1.4 build 72 available here: http://valiullin.info/program/VitoC..._prerelease.zip

With the GPS tweak, I've been able to get my Holux GPSlim240 to work with Google Maps.

With the ClearType tweak, the font looks more like on my Dash! (it still looks rather large & bold in the softkey menus, though...)

Please note that I'm not the original discoverer of these tweaks - I just googled a lot of stuff & wrapped them up in cab files. If you want to play around with making your own cab files, use MAKECAB.EXE (a PC command line util, not a smartphone app). It can be had here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310618

Take care!

I'm also having problems when I turn the C730 on with the message "Your current operator (31041) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor."

My hunch is that this can be tracked down to the hidden system file \Windows\netwiz.dat. This looks to be the database that's used by the Network Wizard utility. It currently contains entries that are mostly written in Chinese for far-east carriers. I would be interesting to try & apply a netwiz.dat from a different "flavor" of Cavalier, like a worldwide English version... it is possible to place a file with the same name in \Windows and the OS will use it in favor of the one in ROM (at least, that worked for me with Resco Explorer)

Here's a post where someone was able to delete 5 files from inside \Windows on their Artemis (PPC, not Smartphone) device, and the Network Wizard notification stopped nagging them at startup:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...289#post1250289

I'm not sure how to actually go about deleting ROM files (perhaps replace them with dummy files?), plus I'd rather get Network Wizard working correctly (to make Exchange syncing work), rather than just disabling it...

For Cyberon, I uninstalled it, and installed the retail version of Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 instead. Works great with the voice memo button on the left side, but only one of my headsets (the Jawbone) is able to trigger it with its button. (I did notice that WM5 on the Dash seemed to allow more headsets to trigger Voice Command than after I upgraded the Dash to WM6 & used the WM6 built-in Voice Command...)

I should add, netwiz.dat is a hidden system file & I don't think is visible from the included File Explorer app. However, it is visible when browsing \Windows from a PC that's synced, also when using Resco Explorer and going to Options > Browser and unchecking "hide hidden files"

Posted by: john1027

Thanks for all of that. I hadn't gotten to Vito yet and that will save some headaches as well as the clear type solutions.

When you placed the empty netwiz.dat file on the device did it stop the behavior and just boot up normally? As far as getting it working, I thought it was just a process that offered to set-up your network connections automatically and when it sees one that is not in its database, you get the msg we are trying to get rid of. In my case, I just ran a Cingular set-up cab and it worked fine although I had to tweak the mms settings as I posted earlier. Am I missing a point here about what the netwiz does?

Lastly, did you try to run Cyberon at all? I maybe wrongfully, thought it was the Chinese version only and had no ability to switch to English. I never played around with it and just uninstalled it and went with MS VC. From a comment someone made and something I read, there actually might have been a way to choose English. I'm happy with MS VC but was just curious.

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure what it is that the Network Wizard really does. My guess is that it can twiddle some sort of low-level bits that have to do with what "home" carrier the phone thinks it has.

What I'm hoping to get out of fixing it is to have those "You are currently roaming..." messages go away when I'm trying to sync Exchange over the air (the messages only appear when I'm not tethered via USB).

Which Cingular settings cab did you use? Do you sync w/ Exchange & did those settings make the "You are currently roaming..." messages go away?

The only netwiz file I've tried to replace so far was using a netwiz.dat that I found here for the Australian carrier Telstra that was intended for the 838pro:
http://www.pressdigital.com.au/help...eid=12&nav=0,15

The "net" effect of using that netwiz.dat is the carriers in the Network Wizard are now listed in English, and include Australian carriers, but not North American ones. The Network Wizard alert still appears on startup (since this netwiz.dat also doesn't have a Cingular entry). So, a bit informative, but not terribly helpful, unless yer an Ozzie...

I haven't yet tried playing with dummy files for netwiz, but my guess is that the only file worth trying to replace with a dummy is netwiz.exe?? However, I'm not sure if doing so would "fail gracefully" (ie, make the startup error go away) or would pop up a different error complaining that the exe is bad... The Atremis folks were fine with just deleting the netwiz files, but I'm not sure how to do that on Smartphone, hence the dummy idea.

Posted by: elbow

Oh, for Cyberon, it seems like I got about as far as you did before I threw up my hands & uninstalled it in favor of MS Voice Command. However, I have played w/ the native English version of Cyberon on a different WM smartphone, and wasn't terribly impressed with it - the on-screen UI is kinda fugly, and the style/quality of the voice prompts varies wildly. The recognition quality isn't too bad, however - I just prefer MS Voice Command.

Thanks for the cabs elbow.

Let me throw in something interesting I just found.

I created an account on DopodAsia and put in my S/N for my phone. If you go to download > application you can download a zip file that reinstalls some of the software that originally comes on the phone...

It says this:
C730 Software Pack Updates (2577)

If you have hard reset your C730, some software will be lost. You are required to install this program to recover the software.

1) Extract the downlaoded file (C730_2577.zip), copy the folder named "2577" to your Micro-SD card (Don't rename the folder name)
2) Turn on the device, put the Micro-SD card into device.
3) It will install automatically and restart the device.

So I downloaded it and opened the zip file, one of the cabs in there is a Netwiz cab. Makes me think that a hard reset might remove the Network wiz and solve some of your problems.

I will say for me I get the network wizard when I start up, I just say no and I don't have any problems with my exchange email.

I tried setting up Cyberon but I don't think it understands the commands. I was able to do the digit trainer but it didn't do anything. The english manual doesn't help very much because it doesn't show you what is in the menu command. Since I don't read chinese that made it very hard to figure out what I was doing. I emailed Dopod to try to get the English version of Voice Command but they said they do not support it at this time. I did notice in the download applications of their site they have an old english version for the Dopod 828 (magician).

Posted by: elbow

Hi globecode,

Thanks very much for the software pack stuff - hmm, a hard reset may be an interesting route to try... But it makes me wonder what it is that's making my Exchange sync keep throwing up the roaming warnings. Are you using Direct Push? Is it delivering new emails to you w/o you having to manually "pull" them?

If I may ask, what kind of APN setup did you do on your C730? The only thing I've done is go into Settings > Connections > GPRS and manually make an entry for Cingular with the wap.cingular stuff. (Hmm, but I did set it as "Connects To: The Internet" rather than "Connects To : WAP Network" - wonder if that makes a difference??)

It still seems to me that just getting rid of NetWiz wouldn't fix the Exchange problem, but getting NetWiz configured right may be (one way to) do it.

Posted by: globecode

I don't usually use directpush, I usually have it check every 15 minutes. Although I tested directpush and it worked fine. I am on cingular blue (really old ATT wireless sim card) and I followed Blue4Life's post here to set up my phone.

The only issue I am having is that I can't get the phone to keep my VoiceMail number, so speeddial #1 does not work for me. I think it is a SIM conflict because checking around cingular orange users are not having this problem.

Posted by: john1027

Elbow, like globecode, I only get the network msg on startup after a soft reset and just tell it no. Its no big deal but my company also enforces a device pswd settting and it got hung up a couple times and I had to remove the battery to get it jump started again. I don't get the roaming msgs you are seeing. I've attached the cab I use for Cingular and only needed to tweak the mms settings as detailed in one of my earlier posts.

I'm going to use the information you provided and see if I can do the same thing described in the xda post. That is after I get a good backup with Sprite.

Posted by: KeilwerthSX90R

How do you do a soft reset? I looked through the manual and could only find the hard reset.

I tried opening a Word document attachment in BB Connect email and now my email is dead.

Thanks,
Josh

p.s. BTW, does anyone else's C730 hang a lot? I often get the system working spinning icon when opening apps, emails, etc.

Congrates on the Cavalier John.

Soft reset by turning it off then on again or take the battery out or use a program to do it. First method is probably the easiest.

Posted by: globecode

Mine doesn't hang at all. I don't use BB Connect.

I will say I am very anal about making sure I close applications I don't need. I don't have too much installed on there yet. I am currently testing browsers between Opera Mini and jb5. My favorite app so far is smarttoolkit, which includes a reset option.

Posted by: john1027

No hang-up issues here either using an exchange server. I also close things right away that I'm not using or planning on using soon. I'm using cele task right now and it has a number of things it will do to include shutd6won and resets from a menu.

globecode, does smarttoolkit allow you to adjust volume settings on the C730 without using the joggr at all. I would like to disable it all together if I had another was to adjust volume.

Posted by: KeilwerthSX90R

Thanks for the replies. The 'soft reset' method of taking the battery out hasn't alleviated my email problems. I'm wondering if it's BB Connect, even though it was working well for a day or so.

Thankfully Dopod should be releasing a version of BB Connect soon.

Posted by: El Chino

anybody heard about an software update from dopod HK site?

Posted by: globecode

Chino...See my post #43 on this thread.

John...yes. When you are in a call it is a bit tricky (three to four button pushes to get there)...not very practical. I have pretty much given up on the JOGGR too. It is a nice theory but not as practical as a scroll wheel. Also I am lefthanded so it is even harder for me to control when I am not thinking about it.

The buttons are so well done on this that I would almost rather have a messaging button and back button instead of them in the JOGGR.

Welcome. Can you elaborate? Application locked means that a smartphone is set not to let you install 3rd party software that has not been certified by Microsoft. The C730 is app locked out of the box but can be app unlocked very easily. If that's not what you were referring to, just clarify what you are asking.

Posted by: john1027

Still haven't had a chance to do much with netwiz. I did find HKCU>software>infinitiq>Netwiz contains a number of entries related to netwiz. I'm not savvy enough to know what each and everyone is or if there is a value change that would stop it all together.

Hi Guys,

First post for me on HF, been reading lots of post over the years and usually find what I am looking for by searching...but not this time. I need your help.

I got my new c730 yesterday and I am having issues with email: I am not able to reply or create new emails in all of my accounts (outlook, gmail, yahoo). I did see this problem with some experimental roms on my 8525 but I didn't expect to see this on this device. Have any of you have issues like this one ??? Whenever I try to send email, I gen a blank page and nothing else, going back to the inbox doesn't work either. To go back, I need to kill the application...

thanx for your answer and sorry for my english

what I need is the procedure to do apps unlock my C730...

Posted by: hondaguy

this is more of a wm6 question, but since i am using it on a cavalier running wm6 i am asking it here. i am syncing my email with 1and1.com so my device is forcing me to use a device lock password. my problem is that for some reason my test rom sometimes wont recognize the digits i am entering when it asks for a password which means i have to hard reset the device and start over again. i realize that it has switched to t9 and will not allow me to switch back and it does this randomley. i also understand that stuff like this happens sometimes when using a test rom but it is still a pain in the but.

does anyone know how to bypass the need for a password? or, does anyone know where i can download the wm6 dopod rom?

thanks in advance

My company forces a password setting thru exchange. When I had the vox, the only way I was sure I could get it to enter right was to use the slide out keybd and hit the function key and the appropriate key that had the number I was entering. I saw a thread recently here in HF somewhere on the subject and someone posted a link to this subject in at MS. Wasn't a whole lot of information that was applicale to my situation.

Haven't see a posting of the ROM. The rom is a little junked up on the C730 for use in North America and there is a startup network wizard that has gotten hung up with the device lock I have to use a couple times. In addtion, as posted earlier in the thread, there is a patch file for the rom that has to be run after a hard reset.

Regarding the Network Wizard. I had to do a hard reset because of the problems I was having (I pretty sure it was the version of BB Connect I was using). Anyway, even after the hard reset I get the Network Wizard.

Did you do the Dopod software update after the hard reset?

Posted by: mexvato

Thanks for the reply. I solved the issue: A program that I installed was causing the problem. I did a hard reset on the phone, I didn't installed any program, set email accounts and everything is working fine. I need to figure out which program is causing the problem. Thanks again.

No. I just did the hard reset, which by the way resets the language to Chinese. The only thing I've noticed that's missing is the Voice Command. I had deleted that before the reset but I would think that a reset might reload it from protected memory somewhere (maybe).

I must say, without BB Connect on here, the C730 really moves quickly. No more hanging, everything loads fast.

Also, for anyone wondering about ATT / Cingular HDSPA. I'm getting about 900kbps using DSL Reports speed test.

I'm not totally sold on WM6 Standard (I came from a Treo) and the JOGGR is unusable for me but I really like the device.

Posted by: drunkm3nky

Keil,

I also hard resetted my device and had to change the language back to english from the regional settings.

Also, the zip files from the DopodAsia site will give you voice commander back (not sure if thats what you wanted). It also gives Dopod RSS, Info Feed, Cyberon TalkingDict. Just FYI.

This phone is great, but I'm still torn between this and my Vox S710. Wish this phone had a scroll wheel...

Posted by: globecode

Drunk...

You installed the software update from DopodAsia.com? Can you tell if it patched anything? Also, the voice command is still in Chinese in the update correct?

This phone is definitely more pocketable than the S710 IMHO.

Posted by: john1027

With a registry editor:

HKEY_Local_Machine\init\ and scroll down to Launch96 and change the value from nwstart.exe to the word null.

That did the trick for me. So far I have not had any other issues and have soft reset several times to try it out and it starts just fine with no hint of the Network Wizard.

I would be curious to hear your thoughts on this compared to the Vox. I'm anxiously awaiting the CDMA version to drop for VZW and may finally move to one device depending on the keyboard.

Posted by: drunkm3nky

As far as I can tell, the software I updated on the Dopod didn't really patch anything. I still get the network error when I restart the device. It just gave me a couple of Dopod programs like I mentioned earlier.

The voice commander in the zip file is the Chinese version still.

Posted by: drunkm3nky

Keil,

So far my impressions of the Vox have been mixed. It's a great phone, but there are some shortcomings.

- Lack of 3g: Personally I use 3g connection half the time in an area with 3g, so the C730 for me is better for me while browsing the web, etc.

- Speed: The device can be sluggish at times, especially when you run a couple of apps. I try to close programs as often as I can, but the menu speed just isn't up to par with the C730.

- Keyboard: I think this is mostly a personal preference. The keyboard on the Vox is more spread out, which is easy to use with 2 thumbs. However, the tactile feedback isn't that great- the keypress is a bit shallow compared to the C730. However, the number pad is very nice and easy to use. Calling contacts is just as simple if not more than the C730.

- Battery life: Battery life on the Vox is better than the C730. This is a given. At the end of the day, I have about 60% left on the Vox compared to about 30% on the C730. I do about 40 or so emails, some SMS, web browsing w/ Wifi, and make about 10-20 calls in a day.

- Form factor: Both are very nice, but the Vox has the rubberized grip which gives it an upper hand- I wish they did this for the C730.

- RF and speakerphone: From my experience, the RF signal and voice quality was better on the C730. It was a bit louder and crisper on the C730, although the speakerphone was louder on the Vox.

- Build quality: Both are HTC, both are nice. One main gripe about the Vox is that the sliding mechanism isn't very tight, so tends to slide a bit from side to side (not fully open).

Not sure if I'm missing any points that you'd like me to compare about the two devices. Hope this helps.

Posted by: globecode

John,

I tried this registry edit but it won't allow the change. Is there something I need to do have access to change the registry? I am using Total Commander.

Posted by: elbow

Hi Globecode,

The only registry editor I've had success at editing keys with is Resco Registry, which is bundled w/ Resco Explorer. There's a free 14-day trial here: http://www.resco.net/smartphone/explorer/

Hi John, thanks, I think I also ran across that spot in the registry for Netwiz abt the same time that you did.

It turns out that they were kind enough to provide a registry bit that you can flip & it stops the wizard from showing up at startup! Just go to HKCU\Software\Infinitiq\Netwiz and change NetNoSupport from 0 to 1. Viola!

Note - with my last batch of tweaks, after you pair your bluetooth GPS, you'll need to rename it to "BT GPS" (no quotes), sorry that I forgot to mention that before!

Again, all this stuff is built on the shoulders of others...

Posted by: john1027

Elbow - great esp. the cab for the BT. I use the same BT and it will be nice to get it working as expected. When I had a vox, the voice prompt also went thru the device but did work out of the box with the H700 otherwise.

Globecode, I use Resco also. I also app unlocked. I hadn't run into anything that wouldn't install before that, but when I started editing the registry, I just took a moment an app unlocked first. IMO, Resco FE is well worth the price.

Great comparison, thanks! Fortunately, the CDMA version has 3G.

First post on HoFo, hello all!

I've been following this phone for a few months now trying to find out as much info as I can and hoping for it's release.

Don't know if anyone's seen this yet, ignore if you have.

http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=149749

Called mobileplanet today and asked about the release which their site said released this past saturday and they told me definately in the next 2-3 weeks, one guy even gave me a date of June 6th. I asked if TMo would replace the Dash with this, of course he didn't know, but figured I'd give it a shot anyhow.

Thanx. Glad to be part of this great forum community.

the s630 will be out in about 10 days. The only problem is no one knows if it will have a HTC honored warranty.

Not that I know of. The Dopod rom is very stable (at least in my experience) and other than the Cyberon voice app everything can be set-up for English.

For the most part, nothing physical that I'm aware of. The roms might be tweaked differently or offer slightly different internal or add-on programs but they should be basically similar. One slight physical difference from what I've seen is that the C730 has brown upper key selection symbols vs. the easier to see green color on the pre-production S630s that I have seen pictures of.

Posted by: brucejr

Thanks!!

Posted by: JwY

If you want to be sure of other hardware differences, under the battery it should list the exact model (ie. CAV100 or CAV200, etc). All the different forms of HTC devices have a different designation.

Posted by: john1027

Jwy...as always thanks for that information. The C730 is a CAVA 100 model.

No problem.
Now we just need to know what the Prototype/HTC version is.

I heard that from another vendor today also. It was said that HTC might not initially offer a vendor warranty and that they would reconsider if they sold enough devices. Does that mean that it would be up to the vendor to possibly issue some type of warranty? If this is true, why would anyone buy an HTC branded model vs. the Dopod C730? Has any manufacturer tried this tactic before? Hopefully, all this will not come to pass, and it will be released with the same warranty HTC usually issues, which still means a trip overseas if it is a device not yet released in North America, but at least you have a warranty.

Why in the world would HTC not offer a warranty? ...Unless HTC doesn't believe in this product, in which case it shouldn't be released in the first place. If this is true, it would be a major break not just from HTC's business practices but also a break from established CE industry practices. Let's hope it's not true!

Posted by: john1027

Wirelessly posted (Dopod S-730: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.12) DopodC730)

Absolutely. From a marketing perspective it makes no sense. I would never spend this kind of money w/o some sort of warranty from the manufacturer.

Posted by: JwY

I doubt they'll not include any warranty as that would be too extreme.

Posted by: ngweimin

The c730 seems to take rather crappy videos but the one thing that irks me the most is the mic gain when recording videos. The mic is located just below the key pad and if you're not facing it the mic will hardly pick up any sound.

If you were to film someone talking, you can't hear anything when playing back the vid. Anyone have the same problem? Is there a way to increase the mic gain when doing recordings?

There seems to be no issue with the mic when in a conversation on the handset or on speakerphone.

Posted by: brucejr

john1027 have you used BB connect with the Dopod?

Posted by: john1027

I do not, as I am on a company exchange server also have my own pop3 account.

I did read on the ppcsg.com forums that some users have downloaded bbc 4.0, and it does work for them on the C730.

Elbow, could you post the settings that you used to get your H700 working with BT initiated calling over BT. I can't seem to get mine working (I also have a H700). Hey everyone, I just recieved my Cavalier (C730) and have been reading through this thread. Special thanks to John who sent me a nice summary of what to install and what tweaks to use. Just for bookmark sake, incase anyone ever wants to have step by step direcitons on how to set up the network stuff for Cingular. I have this page bookmarked just for phones like the C730

so the Dopod C730 is basically the HTC CAvalier we were waiting for that was alike a htc excaliburt/tmob dash except with 3g.

did it retain the wifi

so its a quadband hsdpa 3g smartphone like the samsung blackjack but has wifi added?

that is what i was waiting for.

whats the best places to get this from? does mad monkeyboy have it?

will it work good on Cing/ATT in the Us and be a good upgrade to a samsung blackjack?

Yes it is Quadband GSM and Tri Band UTMS with HSPDA support with A/B WiFi. I am using it on Cingular as a replacement for my Blackjack.

Glad the driver finally showed-up! Still haven't been able to get the bt initiation to work with MS VC. Elbow will check-in eventually and I sent a PM to ebadger asking him for any direction he might have. I'm sure its just an easy registry change (hopefully) but haven't quite got it right yet. It worked perfectly with the Dash and wm6 with a tweak so I am confident that we can get it working on the S730 also.

sounds good, I just installed VC 1.6 so I will also poke around and see what I can figure out. Now to set up my homescreen and Fizz Traveler. I was suprised to see over 50MB free when I got the device.

I knew if I looked enough I'd find the right hack...from MrDSL and some other folks over at xda...

This cab makes the necessary changes needed to get the call initiation feature from the bt earpiece working (including audio thru the bt) with MS VC. While its always the safest bet to follow the sequence outlined in the thread, I had already previously uninstalled the Cyberon VC, installed MS VC 1.6 (standard/smartphone version), and had everything working except the bt call initiation.

I ran elbow's cab posted earlier in this thread, and as noted in my earlier posts couldn't get it to work. When I found the cab in the linked thread, all I did was drop it onto my phone, ran it, and even without a soft reset, everything is now working. BTW, I'm using a Moto H700. Disregard the line in the attached thread that mentions changing the shortcut key on the phone, as it is referring to a Hermes device. When you install MS VC to the C730, it defaults to the record button, and unless you want to change it, it works fine with that setting.

There is the slightest possibility that it was a combination of elbow's cab and then the linked cab. But I am pretty sure that you only need to run the linked cab below form xda. I have an idea of what the cab changes but am not entirely sure. I guess I should learn someday how to open the inner workings a cab file so I can see exactly what it does. When elbow checks back in at some point, maybe he can enlighten us to what the cab changed

Great info John, thanks. I did a hard reset on my device before I began setting it up and I don't have Cyberon VC on the device. Was that installed as an "extra" from the factory?

Posted by: john1027

Yes; got mine from Haider at SMG and I'm not sure if I have a Singapore or HK version (I've been told there is a little difference). Anyway, it was there along with an English to Chinese translation program, which I didn't think I would need too much eiher, and I deleted that as well.

I didn't spend too much trying to mess with the Cyberon VC, and the little effort I spent never got it off Chinese. There might have been a possibility that it could have been kicked over to English, but I'm not sure. I have legit copies of VC in both platforms and have always been fairly happy with it, so I just went that route.

Okay...I'm thinking about making the jump into Windows smart phones. I'm VERY interested in this phone but this will be my first phone with Windows Mobile running. Where should I be looking for the basics online? Any helpful sites will go a long way with me

Also, as I've been reading, the phone is sim free but there is something that stops you from adding apps to the phone (I'm talking about when I FIRST turn it on). It's been mentioned that I have to "mod" it? How do I go about doing this?

Thanks in advace for the help...I'm sorry that I'm such a noob with this...

wehre can one find the dopod c730 or other htc s630/cavalier varieant for best price?

Posted by: john1027

Only the C730 has been released. There are some pre-production HTC S630s around but HTC has yet to confirm that it is even going to released the S630 in the HTC name. It is likely that it will though in the next few weeks (maybe) based on what a couple of the vendors are saying. What is clouded about that release is that there seems to be some question about the terms of the warranty.

I bought my C730 from Smart Mobile Gadgets and recommend Haider. There are other very reputable and good vendors out there also but those carrying the C730 are limited. SMG isn't sure if they will be carrying the Cavalier until the warranty issue is worked out. He is in discussions about that with his supplier.

There are some guides, tutorials, and other information that you can find at the MS window mobile website. I would also suggest just googling the subject. If this is your first venture into windows mobile, you might want to consider choosing a device directly from your vendor which would assure you of better support. Depending on the return policy offered, it also gives you the opportunity to reutn it or exchange it if you don't like it. If you purchase thru an online vendor, unless it is DOA, you usually are not going to be able to return it.

Good info john1027!! I have looked at a couple of the vendor sites here on HoFo. SMG 3rd best price out of the (5) I checked. How much teakage did you have to do for your Dopod to work "seamlessly" here in the US?

Not a whole lot. Everything is laid out somewhere in this thread. My use is primarily on the business end of the spectrum with entertainment secondary. I try to keep things fairly simple and just stick with certain core programs I know work for me (e.g. Resco FE, Agenda One, Fizz Weather). some of the fine tuning is more related to clearing out some of the apps/settings that are included which were really intended for the targeted buyers in the Far East where this device ifs officially released.

I will echo what John is saying here. I got my C730 yesterday, won from an ebay auction, and based on the items in this thread it was very easy to set up. The tweaks I did were

Tweaks:
Clear Type cab - Required!
Cingular SP settings cab - worked great but the Proxy address is wrong, it needs to be wireless.cingular.com:80
Netwiz cab - remove the network wizard
BT Cab - set up initiating BT from the headset

Programs I Installed:
Fizz Traveler
Resco Explorer + Registry addin
MS Office communicator
OneNote Mobile
MS Voice Command 1.6

I keep all of these as .cab files in a folder on the storage card, so if I ever need to do a hard reset, I can set it back up in no time

As do I john1027. Had a lot of the BB devices, but I could only ever view on the last (2) [8100, and 8300]. I am a clinical social worker by trade so I need to receive appointment updates, and various other documents on the fly with the ability to create, and/or modify the documents sent to me. I use outlook a lot so to be able to use the meeting portion of the application is a plus. Interesting you shoudl mention weather since we are geared up her in Florida for Hurricane Season 2007. 24 hours a day I have to be ready in case schedules are changed, or information is given that I have to distribute to my colleagues.

Posted by: john1027

There are whole discussion threads here at HoFo (and sometimes debates) on the best weather program. Some would argue the best way is just to go directly to a particular weather site (e.g. NOAA). I've tried many of them and just find Fizz Weather gives me a quick, capsule of the weather for a particular day. As you can see, Mashie uses Fizz Traveler which includes the Fizz Weather and has additional features that are germane to a road warrior, which Mashie is. Fizz also gives you the ability to set-up multiple cites and you can scroll thru them on the home screen. Hopefully, it will be a quiet hurricane season you won't need to track too many of them!

Posted by: brucejr

True that!! I also keep tabs on Weather Underground Mobile

for the tropical happenings!

Mashie,

I noticed today that after running the MS VC cab I found at xda that it installed another VC icon in the start menu that has a couple of toggle boxes. None of them are checked and it seems to be working just the same with me. This hack cab was actually the work of XCSdm at XDA who did so when 1.6 first came out and the Hermes and wouldn't work with BT. When I get a chance, I'll go back to XDA and see if I can figure out what the additional setting do.

I've googled quite a bit and I still don't fully get it. I understand the concept of loading the files and what I can do with the phone.

What I don't have a clear understanding is how to do a full application unlock. No were that I've looked has been specific about this particular phone. I've found a few on other ones though (no use to me )

If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great. A good site or PM me the info that would be super. If not then I guess I'll have to put the new phone on hold...

Yeah, I feel dumb trying to look up this stuff...

If it's the correct info I need, I'm going to get one tomorrow...

EMAGDNIM - didn't initally understand what you were asking and thought you were asking about the windows mobile o/s in general. I use the SurrealNetworksAppUnlock cab and keep in on my sd card and run it from there. That way its there if I have to hard reset. These cabs just make the changes for you to the registry that are outlined in the following link:

Can anyone comment on how the display of text seems different on the Dopod? I have read that it is blockier. How bad is it, really?

Is it something that's easily fixed by installing the cleartype cab file?

Thanks,

Yes enable claeartype and the text on the screen is very good. I like the font they used after enabling cleartype. Before I hated it.

Thanks for the response. I haven't decided on whether or not to buy one yet. I liked the Excalibur quite a bit, and I'm a big fan of WM6 so I am leaning towards picking one up...

How do I enable cleartype fonts on my c730?

Also, anyone figured out how to view the time details for SMS that are a day old. The time is only shown for the current day's SMS.

I haven't used the my Treo much lately with bt but I'm pretty sure everything worked as expected. I'll double check tomorrow. Do you have another bt to try with the 730? When you ran the xda cab did you get the addtional menu item I mentioned earlier? What you are getting is what I got when I installed elbows cab. It was only after I ran the 2nd one that it began to work.

what are the 2 with the lowest price for the c730.

will the HTC version work better and with less tweaks for the US market on ATT then the dopod version does?>

Posted by: brucejr

The lowest I found was $437.00 , the highest $599.99 from the merchants I looked at on HoFo. From searching the web I saw prices approaching $800 .

With either device, you will need to do some tweaking and you will also have to enter your account settings for your device to work with AT&T. The Dopod brand is distributed in the Far East and has pre-set networks and a couple programs that are targeted to that region. All of those items can be reset or deleted as outlined in this thread.

When HTC releases their version (again there still has been no official confirmation that they will) the rom in that device will have a more western hemisphere flavor. As far as what one rom has and the other doesn't, its too early to say as the HTC official rom is not out. Down the road if the HTC rom proves to have features that someone with a Dopod wants, they should be able to cid unlock their Dopod and flash the HTC rom. Right now, I'd say that the Dopod rom is pretty table though.

Link to the cab at XDA is down the bottom. I suspect that what is lacking in the Dopod rom regarding the BT initiation is the same thing that needed to be fixed in the Hermes, as the cab I found at xda was targerted to a Hermes.

Hi, I've installed the tools cab on my device but can't seem to find SCM, what is it?

Posted by: Sukey

Folks,

I have a quick question which I didn't see addressed elsewhere:

Is it possible to tether the Cavalier to a laptop?

Thanks,

Sukey

Posted by: ngweimin

How are you guys prolonging the battery life of your Cavalier besides turning off 3G? With 3G on, an hour talk time and some wifi, the battery doesn't last me more than 24 hrs.

Posted by: john1027

That's about as good as it is going to get. With light use you might get a day and a half but it is a device that will just need to be charged almost daily. With 3G selected and nothing else running, it will drop about 20% in an 8 hour period from my experience.

Posted by: brucejr

Have any 3rd party manufacturers come out with extended batteries for HTC and/or Dopod? It makes the device a little thicker but battery life can be greatly increased. Had one with my 8100 and it was amazing how long (with heavy use) I could go without a charge. Can't beat the 3G speed though so that's why I am going for the S630 and WM6.

That seems pretty good to me, to be honest.

New rules of the game: you sleep, you charge.

Posted by: john1027

The HTC branded version has not been released and not even officially announced. The Dopod C730 was only first released about a month ago and its a little too soon to see too much 3rd party peripherals that are specific to the model e.g an extended battery. If the model doesn't get a lot of distribution the peripherals that do come out might be a little limited. Hopefully someone will figure out a way to set-up an extended battery for those who want that option but the stock battery cover design and positive catch/release will make designing an extended cover a little more difficult than it was on some other devices. Personally, I think one of the pros of this device is the design and slimness, and I think you just have to plan on charging it at some point just about everyday.

Posted by: dornier

Hi everyone,

Received a Dopod C730 the other day and have some questions:

1) Battery life? I owned a Dash and I was able to surf the web for at least 45 min using WIFI, talk for about 2-3 hours using a Bluetooth headset, listen to music, and would have at least half battery life before I went to sleep. After 10-20 minutes of phone calls, surfing the web using t-mobile edge service for about 20-30 minutes, the battery is down to 1-2 bars. The only odd thing is that although I only have one battery bar left, if you go to settings and power management it shows 40% battery left. Is this a bug or is the battery really low?

2) Where can I find WM6 themes that have small icons? I personally don't like the large icons, but I can't find a built in theme with a small icon option.

3) Opera Mini 4 beta, have you tried it? I tried it and it locks up almost every time. It's too bad; it worked great on the Dash.

4) I have a USB to 3.5" stereo adapter that I use with my Dash and a regular pair of headsets when I travel. Do you know if it will work with the C730 or will I have to get a new one?

5) By the way, the newest sling player mobile 6 version works great. I also love the way my Motorola stereo Bluetooth headset sounds with the C730. Last but not least, Garmin's Mobile 10 works perfectly with the C730. On the Dash, it worked okay, but would get sluggish at times, but not on the C730.

Thanks,

GP

I agree with you John, have you seen the extended battery for the Dash *shudder* ?

They should, however, be able to squeeze another 100-150mah of juice in the same form factor so that it fits in phone without resorting to a new cover. I think the best thing to do in a situation like this is to carry an extra battery. So...who sells batteries for the Cavalier ?
