I tried Yahoo Go! last night and I have the problem with my phone for sure - I'd really like to know if the latest patch fixes this, and be able to download the patch without needing to prove to HTC I own the phone. |

I downloaded this update for the PPC6800 (Sprint Mogul) from the link below. This did fix the problem with my .netcf app and I can now type normal with my QWERTY keyboard. http://www.america.htc.com/support/...-downloads.html |

I'm interested in buying one but I'm simply shocked that theres no support nor is it listed on their website - you need to play with the url to even find a description --> http://www.htc.com/product/03-product_s630.htm Whats going on here?! |

I tried to load the WWE ROM 1.16.707.7 to see if it will fix it but it's CID locked so no go on that route. There's no CID unlock for the Cavalier.
I am not savvy enought to dig through registries so I guess this is a very expensive lesson learned for me. The previous owner claim that he never thought it had wifi to begin with although the box he sent it with clearly states it, with picture even. My question to everyone is: Is there anyway to verify that there's a WIFI hardware installed, short of opening the unit itself? |

I think the only real difference between the two phones are the colors and also which countries they're set-up for; the Dopod being setup with English/Chinese and the Softbank setup with Japanese/English. I'm buying the Softbank X02HT White from Plemix next week myself. K |

Anyways, i read a lot of quality problems with the HTC Cavalier, do they exist with the Softbank model as well? Also, what color you getting? i was thinking white but im leaning over the dark grey color ![]() |

And I'm hoping the Softbank model doesn't have any of the quality issues the Cavalier has but then again I haven't found many forums with members owning the X02HT. K |

I have to say the Cavalier (Dopod C730) has been such an unreliable device it does not surprise me when things just change by themselves... I've had 5 different occasions where I go to use it only to find it is completely hung, then when after I pull the battery to reset it, it comes up in Chinese and I have to start all over again... It's the only WM device I've had with such serious reliability problems. I give the keyboard input fix from Vertigo1md1032 two thumbs up! Jon |

In other news, I'll be posting a new version soon that comes with a free copy of Ubuntu, OpenOffice, Gator, MyWebSearch, and one of those pictures where you are supposed to find the one thing wrong with it (but in the end it just scares you).... I'm just kidding. The file is clean and it does what I said it would. If you don't want to use it, that's cool too. Origin of the file- I tweaked the file with one of my friends that works for HTC Asia. Actually she did most of the work, I just tested it for her. We're also working on a fix for battery issues. She has the s630 (I have the c730), and we're both tired of waiting on everyone else to resolve these issues. In the last year or so, I've considered getting a new phone about a dozen times, due to problems I've had with this one (crashes, hard resets, memory cards being automatically wiped, keyboard issues, etc.), but it really is one of the top five devices on the market. I will be keeping mine until the new Windows Mobile 6.1 rolls out, and you didn't hear it from me, but there may be an update to 6.1 for THIS DEVICE at some point in the future. Just passing on what I know. Joshua Sweeney |

There weren't any install instructions - once the file is downloaded, how do I install it? I just took a guess and did the following... downloaded the file, extracted, saved as .zip, renamed .zip to .cab, copied to phone, selected the .cab file and it did some type of install. I restarted the phone...but still have the same keyboard problem. |

In regards to branding; it's very light - only the carrier name on the front, the model name on the back, the Softbank settings regarding data, and Softbank's S-Mail. You will have to manually add the data settings for at&t WAP, IMS, and the Medianet proxy but those are simple.
So far, I think it's perfect for me; provides all the features I liked about the 8525 (Wi-Fi, dedicated push email, and QWERTY keypad) with the things I loved about the V9 (it fits into my pocket without making a noticeable decent, it's not too heavy or bulky, it's highly customizable, and it's sleek and well-designed). I've only had a few issues with it really; it comes application locked and the MMS system is worthless. The first problem of it being app locked wasn't that big a deal when I first started installing programs to it but when I wanted to install the HTC Home program or something like SRS WOW HD audio enhancer it would tell me I had insufficient rights to do so. A quick Google (and some Babelfish translations) later and I found a guide to app unlock the phone - which worked flawlessly. The second problem isn't so easy; from some reason Softbank uses an MMS system/program which is incompatible with most of the world. So you can't send or receive (I don't really know about the second part...no one sends me MMS) MMS at all. I've tried every hack listed to get an alternative MMS program on the phone (even Asukal's guide for the X01HT) but to no success. One workaround I've begun using is just emailing the picture, video, etc. to the recipient's phone (via the xxxxxxxxxx@cingularme.com address where the x's are their phone number). I haven't been able to drive to Raleigh or Charlotte (the nearest 3G areas in North Carolina until Fayetteville goes online sometime this year) so I can't tell you about it's ability to handle at&t's 3G but I'm quite sure it will. If I get time next week I'll definitely find out for you. So other than those two niggles I think this is a great phone and I'm glad I bought it. K |

Is there any difficulties with the keyboard? Also does it boot up with Japanese or is there an option to pick English? I want to make sure I can navigate to set the language to English if needed.
