V557 doesn't get a strong signal anymore

I have a V557 that is a little over a year old. It used to have a great signal at home or in the office, but now I often get a weak signal, or more often No Service indications (sometimes Emergency only appears). I took it in to my Cingular store, and they thought it was the SIMM, which was from a previous phone. They replaced it, and it seemed better for a short period, but its now at it again. When it gets bad, I can remove the SIMM, rub the contacts, and put it back, and it gets better for a while, but it always returns. The sliding clip that holds the SIMM in place is not doing a good job - I have tried to tighten it up, but without a whole lot of success.

I have stopped by Cingular tables at shows, or at work, and when I compare to their phones, they always have a stronger signal than I do, standing right next to them.

Any suggestions?
