a717 to slim but great camera

I think I finally found a phone that is just too thin. I begged to get to use the a717 as a demo phone this weekend and I just broke it in 1/2 at the hinges. I opened up and I guess I pressed it to my ear a little to fast and hard and snap the hinges just gave way....oh, well. Otherwise, i really like it except for the tiny OLED display, but had great reception and the camera is way better then on the SYNC.

I've never broken a demo phone what are the consequences?

Worst case scenario: You break it, you bought it.

Oh, and if you think the 717 is stupidly thin, wait until you see the 727.

Honestly, when is enough enough? Why do we need at 9-10mm phone? I want a manly, beefy phone....well, not that big but 11-12 mm is probably the right size if not too thin.

Actually whent the a717 is opened it's really only like 8mm where you are holding it and it's really not that comfortable, even though it pretty darn light.

Might I suggest the stylish Motorola V365?

Does this phone have flashlight for the camcorder? I read that there is flash for camera, that is correct?

Posted by: ATnt-RSC

No flash, unless it's hidden somewhere completely non-obvious.

Haha, you would have hated the Samsung X820 that I used to have then! It was only 6.9 mm thick and officially held the title of world's slimmest phone. I loved it except for the lack of GSM 850. If only the upcoming Samsung U100, which will be 1 mm thinner, had GSM 850 ...

Samsung, nothing but fail. Here in the USA we dont care about our "major" purchases and need phones that work, not thinner and thinner phones. It reminds me of early (80s) Toyotas and Nissans w/o cupholders, and problems when drinks were spilled in the console. Different culture, different needs. Not to mention Samsung phones suck for the most part.
BTW, yes, I do sell at&t, Im mainly a lurker, sorry.

I had a classmate who had the X820 that was a super thin phone! Didn't they have a youtube of someone snapping that phone in half?

I have never really had problems with Samsungs phones apart from the cheap build of the Sync. It just feels too plasticish but the phone I've seen split in half the most has been the RAZR.

Yeah, Samsung makes 'em delete it all the time. Wanna see:

and Samsung's answer (like Biggie and Tupac lmao)

a girl like that can snap me in half too let alone the phone hahahaha

Does the a717 actually have a 2 megapixel camera, because the 2 megapixel camera on the Sync sucks.

I believe the sync only has a 1.3mp cam. That might be why it sucks.

Posted by: Wonwad

Might as well, but it's advertised as 2.

Posted by: ATnt-RSC

SYNC has 2MP, yes it does suck, because it is a samsung.

My Blackjack takes decent pictures.

Syncs camera just stinks A717 is a bit better and does rotate like the CU500V. By the way I didn't have to pay for the phone my boss just called it DOA. I'm sticking with my 500v and my new 8300 for right now, I do miss my 8700 jog dial : (
