Hi
I recently bought a HTC S720 (Telus) and have a few questions.
I am new to smartphones/pdas I was still using my old audiovox 8100 so please bear with me. Also besides being new to this type of device I am having trouble finding stuff on this specific device.

1.) Is it possible to get other colors for the GUI other then the default red, blue or green and how would I go about doing so.

2.) Can I disable/change the telus banner (on all homepage types) and also font color?

3.) Would it be possible to use video game emulators on this since it is a windows type OS (ie gameboy sega NES/SNES)

4.) A friend gave me a disk with some stuff on it I figured out the pics and ringtones but the games are in .jar and .jad file types (ie tetris.Jar and tetris.jad in the tetris file.) how are these used?

5.) What types of game file extensions can I use? what should I be looking for?

and lastly I am just plain overwhelmed by all the downloads and such and have no idea if they will work with my phone. what are some of your must haves? and where can I find compatible apps for my new phone (hopefully some freebies lol)

thanks for the help!!

I bought the phone as well about 2 weeks ago and have played with pretty much every setting on it. I'll asnwer your questions as best as possible.

1) Those are all themes. You have to download new themes for it to change the colors etc. I've heard that previous WM5 smartphone themes are compatible but I doubt they are as nice.

2) Im actually still looking to do this myself. I have installed regedit and I believe I found out where the Telus banner is located but when I tried to edit it it would not allow me to do so. Maybe the file is currently in use while trying to edit it.

3) Emulators are possible yes. I currently have SNES, NES and Sega Genesis on mine. They are a little hard to use due to the button setup of the phone but they run great. Just google emulators for smartphone and you will find plenty.

4) Those will not work with this phone. This phone has Windows Mobile so games/programs have to be either installed from your PC by USB to the cell with .exe files or if you get a game/program and drag it to the phone in .cab format the phone can run it and install it from the file explorer.

5) Answered in #4

So far I installed Live Search which is similar to Google Earth for the cell. I installed Pocket Express which give you movie showtimes, weather, 411, and maps etc. I installed PHM Registry Editor to change and edit the registry once I learn some more hacks. And I recently installed the lastest Microsoft Voice Command which allows you to give voice commands to your phone to open Mp3's, programs, tell you the time, your missed calls... Not bad stuff.

Hope this helps

hmm I'm not really interested in a bunch of themes just changing the bars colors to match any background pic I choose (I am an avid pic collector and novice photoshoper). And according to some other sites you can edit the defaults by entering differient color hex codes into the theme or home .xml file.

Once you found out where it is located, can it be copied to your computer and edited there maby?

Which SNS one do you have? I am mostly interested in this and getting a GBA one.

Again I was Informed elsewhere that they might be but you would need some mobile java app to run them through. (I didn't understand it very much but I can try to get more info if you would like.)

I have had a few things I can't figure out how to do

I set up a mail account and it automatically set up a name for the account I did not like - I couldn't figure out how to change the name of the account so I just set up a new account - now how do I delete the other account????

Is there a way to select a bunch of emails and delete them all at once??
Thanks.
