Family Talk Texting

Have you guys heard about the new Family talk texting plan. It will be $29.99 a month for up to five lines and will be unlimited. It will be starting June 17. Now again at&t is following Verizion's lead. Sounds like a great plan but also more work when plans also have data plans involved on the numbers.

Prepare for mass chargebacks.

Also forgot to add that there will also be new media plans for each number on a family talk plan. Media Max Bundle would now be $19.99 Media net Unlimited and Media basic/Works bundle would be $4.99 Media Net 1MB.
Media Bundles cannot be used on PDA/Smart phones. Hopes this helps everyone out.

this unlimited plan will lead to nothing but chargebacks. i can name off the top of my head at least 40 to 50 customers of mine that will take advantage of this deal, and then i will be charged back for all of the different bundles that they had on the plan already.

the plan sounds sick, but it will hurt us as reps more than anything.

If you do follow ups with your customers, I would suggest calling people back and offering to add to their account before they visit a store or they call in to CS.

if you value your money, then that is the way to loose it. you gotta find ways to steer them clear of getting that plan. no matter what. yeah, it helps the customer, but it kills our commission checks.

This has worked in the past and its what I would normally do, however in this case being proactive will still cause one to lose money since the feature value is now a lot lower than the one you are replacing. So no matter how proactive you are it will be a charge back and it will affect you negatively:|

I have one rep that just sold unlimited text on a four line family plan, even if he calls and changes the plan to the new shared unlimited text he still takes a $50 hit! ($20x4-$30=$50)

Ouch!! I didn't think of it that way. Take off a package from multi lines and add one on is a major loss. It'll affect those of us in call centers as well, not as much as agents will be losing, but every bit does help. features for us have to stay on for 60 days before we are paid out for them.

Awesome for my reps in customer service. More families will just choose the unlimited for the whole family, rather than, "oh please put 400 text on line #1, unlimited on #2, and 400$ on #3, and for line #4 and #5, please have pay per use text"

Thank you AT&T!

I wish I would have started looking for another job sooner.

What is worse is let's say someone had a PDA with 1500 and had a couple of text plans on the other lines. Aren't they going to have to take off the new PDA plan you put them on and revert them to the one without 1500 bolt on?

The reason I am asking this is because today someone had the PDVH or whatever the PDA Unlimited with 1500 code is and I had to put the old code on their account in order to give them unlimited internet plus unlimited text messaging.

This is gonna be a nightmare if it affects Blackberry/PDA plans! How the HELL do they expect to raise Features/Ops and ARPU if they keep doing this crap to the Reps?

You guys are foolish to think that we can steer people out of this if they advertise it as much as the M2M crap and god knows how many Verizon commercials I've seen for family text. I guess I need to talk to them to see how they survived.

Yeah, I couldn't figure that out either.

That posters whole paragraph was cryptic...I have no idea what he was talking about.

For the record on this new FT data plan--F-You AT&T!

You know they did this on purpose...got us all to switch everyone's individual data plans to the "new" ones with more text for the same money...that way nobody is vested on those lines. Now they can consolidate features and cancel out most of the commissions that they were going to have to pay. Brilliant. The only ones hurt in all this are the employees...wait a minute...I'm an employee...Aaaarghhh!!!!!

This can, be used to our advantage, too ya know. All i hear is negative things about this new feature. Ya, it sucks, bigtime..but, while feature flipping and being smart about it, not only are we all capable of making up for our losses, but there is a good chance (if done correctly) we could come out above, taking full advantage of the new feature.

I agree with this.

This is going to help the "Is this for the whole family plan or one line?" customers that you get when pitching a text plan on a couple lines. And a lot of families don't even have $30 worth of text features on their account, so those customers probably aren't going to cancel their existing features if they don't need them. There of course will be exceptions, but I really don't see the big deal. Just keep an eye on your MyComp chargebacks, especially for PDA plan chargebacks mentioned above. If you see your PDPH was charged back and the package without the 1500 texts was added by another rep, request a code change.

The problems is, if it is changed by a COR or agent, then they can't put the old reps codes in even if they decide to be honest, which sucks.

And everyone averages $30 - $40 per opp. Then guess what happens? They EXPECT it each month. Due to all the flippers, everyone has to flip to catch up! I remember just a few years ago it was $8 FPO, now they want $30 FPO in my market.

Posted by: suthurnlatino

If it was a 5 line deal the Family Text would drop you to $6 per opp. It sucks because ultimately this will freeze the source of commission from features based on text. Majority of the people pick up Media Plans strictly for the text messaging. If you can get enough to send MMSes I guess you can sell them the 1MB package of internet.

We've already started to see families coming in to change to the new group feature, after we had already put individual data plans on some of the lines. While we are gaining a feature for June, we are most certainly losing out "overall," as the data revenue per group is going lower.

At least ATT is keeping things interesting...it seems like every month they make some sort of change to the data plans so that we all have to watch out for our features being flipped.
