I just got this phone & am liking it so far. I have a few things I need help with.

1. How can I disable/enable Media Net as I want. I have the unlimited plan but want to use wi-fi at home & work as it's faster.

2. How can i set it to notify me when I receive a sms. If it's locked or asleep it doesn't do anything.

3. If I wanted to add Mobile 6 do I have to unlock it? I was looking at using the LSVW version but not sure what WWE is or if it will work for the 8525. Also can I just update the OS or do I have to flash the rom. I read the wiki at XDA but still not sure what steps to take.

Thanks for any help you can give. I've been modding motorola phones for yrs but not sure where to start on this phone.

1. You have to enable wifi and then the phone will use wifi when you are in a wifi network. When wifi can connect it will override GPRS/Edge/3G, when its out of range or turned off, GPRS/Edge/3G will enable again.

Thats what I thought but, I have the wifi on it finds my home & work but still connects through EDGE. Which at work I get a really weak reception. It always times out.

2) The top right LED will change from green to amber if you have a missed call or when you have a new sms. if it doesn't, check your settings: start, settings, sounds & notifications, notifications tab, event: messaging: New text message.
Then check the box next to flash light for and set how long you want the LED to remain amber.

WWE stands for World Wide English. It will work fine on the 8525. You don't have to unlock your phone to flash another ROM, but you definitely need to install Hard SPL as this bootloader will protect your phone in case a flashed ROM doesn't install properly.

Thanks everyone for the help. I had read the wiki but wasn't sure about a few things.

Isn't there some way to assign ringtones to contacts for text messages?

I do want to upgrade to Mobile 6 but not sure which to use. So I guess time for more reading.
