Has anyone heard anything about this? I heard for a Pantech rep that we should see something by August, but I can't seem to find anything but this post on engadgetmobile.com

Sorry to b e the bearer of bad news this device is not Pantechs to use on any other network other than Helio. Pantech made the 310 for Cingular (the small camera phone) The Ocean is cmda based and is not coming to Cingular where Cingular is GSM based. Good post tho. I spent 6 years @ Cingular

Yeah I just did some research on engagdet.com they said its a Ocean type device with Windows Mobile LOL..... Sweet!

Well they already have stuff like that! I think the OP was looking for a QWERTY feature handset. at&t should pick up something like that, even a Hiptop.

just cause it has the same numbers doesn not NECESSARILY mean its the same phone.
i remember reading a different post about this when the Ocean was first released, and i'm sorry but Helio had been working on this device before Helio WAS Helio. I gotta believe the Sky was smart enough to sign exclusivity with Pantech to restrict the phone to Helio alone, atleast for, say, 5 or so years. Verizon does this CONSTANTLY with their phones and I'm sure Helio was smart enough to do the same.

yea thts true, it was said tht the ocean was the phone Sky "dreamt" of making. its not goign anywhere unless cingular tries to copy it with there "own" idea

The duo will be smaller than the ocean, it will feature wm6, dual slider, stereo bt and should be out by the end of this month.

The price should be around $200-$300 with a 2 year contract.

Disgusting.. are their any more phones coming out more like the a630 or something? I'm tempted to go to verizon for the EnV. I can't believe I just said that, but why can't the basic users get a nice qwerty phone?

Yikes, I'm currently with Cingular but have crappy a crappy v557.

I'm a little over a year into my contract but when I found out about the Helio and the Ocean I went ahead and signed up with them too because the Ocean is the perfect device IMO but also because Helio offers a much cheaper rate for unlimited everything than what Cingular can come close to.

I wanted to see what Helio is like by utilizing their Total Happiness guarantee. So far I like everything but to have 2 separate bills is blah (but I can afford it otherwise I wouldn't have done it at all.)

I have a family plan with Cingular so my wife is still using that plan but if Cingular will have a device like the Ocean but with WM6 on it I may have to send the Ocean back and keep from paying 2 different bills.

just becareful with them, i canceled my contract in novemeber of 06 and paid my last bill, and i just got everything finally cancelled last month, they kept trying to bill me, then charge me late fees, then they sent me to collections. so just make sure they dont get you. if you search the helio forums there are alot of stories like that

I am really interested in this phone and will probably get it when it is released. But I have one worry. How is Pantech phone volume, that is the earphone and the speakerphone. I am not familiar with the company and its phones.

I did some research and saw where many of the Ocean owners complained that the Ocean has really low phone speaker volume. So that will probably be the case for the ATT version

Do you guys know if the Pantech phones can be hacked to up the volume like some of the nokia phones can be. I would be interested in a volume hack if indeed the phone volume is low

With a phone like this, I will never leave ATT.. I been waiting for a new phone to really due everything that I want it to other then the iPhone.. I sure hope that if this baby "DUO" does come out, it will have 3G..

I have a smart phone as well and I have found that same issue. I get so use to my smart phone that using my wifes regular phone horrible.
