If you're not yet caught in the web of the Pocket PC spider, give yourself a chance to try out the smartphone platform.

Many of us would like to enjoy the compactness of Windows Mobile Standard phones, but it's hard to go back after getting used to Pocket PC. But it's easier to go up, so if you start with the S720, you'll have no issues upgrading to PPC for capability reasons...

And one more thing, if you don't know that you should get a Pocket PC, don't get a Pocket PC, get a Smartphone...

ed311 is right. i started with smartphone edition, which i loved, but when i tried out pocketpc i liked it soo much better.

a piece of advice if you do get a pocketpc make sure the processor is faster than 200mhz. i've tried my friends mda and, to me, it was quite slow which is why i got the tytn(400 mhz)

Up until about six months ago, I would have told you that there are many more features and software options for Pocket PC, but not anymore. It really depends on what you want to do with the device. Music and video play about the same on each platform, but the Pocket PC will always win on screen size.

There are more 3rd party software options for Pocket PC, but Smartphone is catching up quickly with the popularity of the Dash and Moto Q. Documents to Go, which is only available for Smartphone, crushes Pocket Word and Excel.

And, you can do almost everything on Smartphones with one hand; even on the Touch, you'll need to use the stylus for certain things.

i would try the S710... they keyboards on smartphones are excellent these days! I could not use a WM or Palm device without one!

This is a good question, one I am pondering over myself. I like the design of the Touch but the lack of quad-band is what worries me. I went from tri- to quad-band and for me it has made all the difference. I actually get a signal at my work!

If quad-band is that important to your coverage, I think your decision is a no-brainer. I've been using the Touch for the past few days, and I'll just say that this is the strongest tri-band signal I've ever gotten. I've been in the Denver area, where TMobile is very strong anyway. Haven't travelled with the phone yet, though.

I'd like to try it out. Just because of the look of the phone and its uniqueness. But yeah, if in the end I do base my decision on signal then I might just have to get the Vox, which isn't all that bad anyway.

Thanks for your replies, I think Iīm going to stick to the Touch or the p3600.
