C56 playing mp3 quality ringers?

Hi, I may be buying a Siemens c56, I know it has the ability to record your voice as a ringer. I'm wondering, could I play an mp3 in the background, record some of it and have it sound decent as a ringer? Thanks

You mean instead of your voice record a part of a song...
yeah you can do that... it's not gonna sound mp3 or cd quality when it comes out the fone ringer but you can always try. I sent you a demo type version of what it may sound like along with the tones and psm player you needed... check your email

OK thanks a lot, just checking it now.

N/P

I didn't get any pm. I'll wait a bit, it may be delayed.

Posted by: tyler2k3

oh you emailed it. Ok thanks

Posted by: Synncere

Not a prob... hope the mp3 sample so to speak gives you an idea of what it would sound like coming out of a fone

Posted by: tyler2k3

I didn't get the demo of what an mp3 file coming out of the ringer would sound like. Thanks if you have a chance later could you email me it

Posted by: Synncere

It was the second version of the Nelly Dilemma song... if you want I can send you another sample or a few of them so you can get an idea... lemme know

Posted by: tyler2k3

oh sorry nevemind, its nelly_loud right. oops

If you have some on your computer already I'd like to hear them, don't worry about making them though, that sounds pretty good though. My mind would already be made up if the phone was the same size as a Nokia 8390, I need to see how big it actually is before I decide.

I'll email you a zip file with a few samples... the c56 is a great fone. Go to a Rogers and check one out... most Rogers stores (well in my area atleast) let you mess around with the fones so if you have that there I suggest you go test it out and if you like it scoop one up.

Posted by: tyler2k3

lol no one around here sells that phone, or the Nokia 6590i, I seem to always choose waht no stores around me sell.

Posted by: Synncere

That's crazy!!

Anyhow... email sent enjoy!

Posted by: tyler2k3

Yep I got them, it seems to work fairly well, it just doesn't get the lower parts of the bass. They defiantly sound decent seeing there coming from a phone. Thanks

Posted by: Synncere

N/P. Keep in mind that on your pc you can always turn the volume up and the speakers are more powerful than a mobile's.... they sound decent on a mobile fone but don't count on hearing that type of ringer if you're in a busy place with lots of background noise.

how do you get the ring tones on to the phone? i have found lots of sites with .mmf files, but they are all zipped and i dont know if the phone will recognize a ZIP file. Thanks!

You don't load the zip file into the fone...
you unzip the file... once that's done you transfer the mmf file into your mobile

go to:

I have pics of the C56 next to an 8390, 8290 and 3390

I think the phone is great! I love it!

Thanks, thats exactly the kind of picture that I needed to see. I think I've made up my mind, I just want to try the menus in store a bit before I buy it.

Is there anyway to make polyphonic ringers louder, I like the sound but I want to make sure I can hear the ringer, I don't really like the vibrating, I never seem to feel it. What I need is a way to make the tone louder before I put it on to the phone. Thanks

Synncere, I think I am just dumb....but I just got the C56 yesterday....how do I "transfer" it to the phone? I was able to download .mid files onto the phone by pointing my browser to the web address. But if I try to download a .mmf file, it says "invalid address." Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Easy..... throw your mmf file into the psm player then go into settings and change the volume and resave your mmf file...

Have you tried using the cable and vissie software?

Posted by: paulwh

Do the cable and software come with the C56? I got it from AT&T and the only accessories that came with the phone were a headset and a belt clip.....

Posted by: Synncere

You'll have to buy the cables but the vissie software can be downloaded from: http://www.7soft.de choose the download for the c55 mobile fone.

I have the CT56 and got the data kit (sent it back it was just a cable!). Official word from Siemens is that you cannot transfer ringtones via the cable (or anything for that matter) only use the phone as a modem with it and the GPRS software.

I did try the VISSIE software Synncere pointed out (thanks!!) - but I only had luck in transfering the demo midis that came with the software. Also right now, Siemens does not have a driver for the data cable (it doubles as a charger pulling power from your USB port).

Posted by: Synncere

You should be able to transfer a Midi into the fone and have it play successfully by using the cables without a driver
