Just curious if anybody has tried the treo 680 custom rom?... they are talking about it over at treo central.

Nobody? well.. i have read all i can read there, and going to try it.. apparently they guy who made the custom, made one for rogers treo 680 too.. so going to try it out and see how it goes..

Pick which ever rom you like..

if your on rogers wireless than you need to replace a file in the custom rom for it to work

ok so installed it, and the custom rom went well, dont notice a diff yet, but atleast it i no longer see thats junk software that i dont ever use... anybody who is on rogers, and need help let me know..

Which one did you install Wongster?? Let us know if you see any difference. My 680 is running pretty good right now and I'm not sure if I want to mess with it. I guess it would get rid of some of the junk but I would want the ROM with the DTG, PTunes and Versamail anyway so not sure how much of an improvement I would see.

I installed custom 8.. thats with dtg and ptunes... i dont really use versamail so got rid of it... it is upto make sure to backup ur stuff before you try any of these custom roms... it was fairly easy to do... just unziped it and copied to the palm folder according to the instructions, and as soon as i put in the sd card in it auto started... just to let you guys know after its done installing.. ur treo will reboot like maybe 5 times atleast.. so just let it do its reboot...

after a day so far.. i do notice that it does run a bit smoother switching from applications to applications,... but i guess i will let you guys know more as i play around with this for a week..

oh and the custom includes the day light saving patch, camera patch, and security patch in it too..

I am using an unlocked Cingular 650 with my Fido SIM card in Vancouver. I am considering moving up to the unlocked Treo 680 and one of the first things I'd want to do is move up to this custom ROM.

Any experience with using this custom ROM process with a Treo 680 for Fido?

How about an update Wongster?? Is it running better?

Does anyone know if you can revert back to the original if need be? Would this void the Rogers warranty or would you be OK because they just swap out smartphones?

dont have any exp with fido 680, but my suggestion is ask those guys to create a custome file.. like they did for our rogers.. theses guys are very nice, and will create it for you.

you can still use those 8 custom roms they posted you just need to replace one special file that they can create for you... so far my 680 has been doing good it does run a bit smoother, and i noticed less lag times...
