Hey guys, I've been trying to connect to the internet for some time now and it's giving me this error message:

"The remote party has ended this connection."

Any advice?

Thanks!

Posted by: Midnightkiss

Go to internet explorer>Menu>Tools>Options>Connections> And check the detect network settings box. If it is checked, then uncheck it. Close PIE and reopen it.

Have you restarted the device? Someone else posted the same issue and mentioned they had to call in to support as the device was locked to one tower for some reason. Do you have a 3G or GSM connection?

Posted by: ivwshane

The same thing happened to me and a reboot fixed the issue.

I've rebooted it before and still no luck. Any specific settings I should be looking at?

I have the Same problem with my Blackjack, I tried screwing around with the settings and i think i screwed it up, I'm actually on the phone as we speak with AT&T (Cingular) and they are attempting to see what the problem is. I hope they will be able to get it working, I am constantly getting "the remote party has ended the connection" error as well... I don't know but hopefully they will fix the problem. I did the automatically check settings box, restarted the phone, and still nothing, supposedly they did something now they are telling me that i have to update to a $29.99 per month internet plan. I had the Media Basic $14.99 plan, so i don't know what the hell they are trying to scam me of... I will keep you updated, to exactly what was done. My internet was working fine until i installed WM6 on my phone, but obviously i cannot tell tech support that, i just told them that ever since i sync it with Vista, it started giving me the problems.

Posted by: MaverickVS

Cingular Cannot figure it out either. I told them that it worked so that i get off the phone with them, but nothing. I don't know if anyone can help here. IS there a specific way to make sure the settings are not screwed with or anything of that nature? We both need help, Please help us get our phones up and running for the internet...
Thanks

Initially i had the problem every time i attempted to access the internet from my blackjack. When I tried to access the net on my phone, it would say "The remote party has ended the Connection". I did some searching and found what the problem was... COSMO, try this. I updated my blackjack to WM6 also and my internet was not working. What you have to do is this:
Go to Settings>Connections>GPRS,
Highlight IMS CINGULAR And click ok.
It should Connect to: The Internet
Under Access Point It currently says: ims.cingular
THIS IS THE PROBLEM HERE>>>>>>>> Change this to:
wap.cingular
USER Name: Should Be Blank
Password: Should Be Blank
Authentication: Should be CHAP
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP ADDRESS: should Be Blank As well...
Click Done until you get back to the 1st settings screen, Restart your phone and there you go, internet on your Blackjack!!!
This is the Configuration that I have on my phone and Internet works fine now.
No Thanks to the Techs @ Cingular. If you want something done right, You have to do it yourself!!!

went through this same problem about three weeks ago while i was on the media max 1500 plan. would not fix no matter what I did. they switched the data plan to the pda max and internet was back. switched it back to the media max and it was gone again. They told me they were getting the correct data plans with the correct phones and it was only a matter of time before they got them all. good luck trying to get past this but it was pretty obvious with how quickly it was fixed by switching to the right data plan what is going on. I know it sucks I'm out another $15 a month too.

T-Mobile section maybe? This is the at&t section. . . .

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Its the same, its just a name change to the logo not the company. Try going on the at&t website and seeing if the settings match up there .

Did you tell em you were on WM6?

I have 2 error messages, the one you guys already posted and worked on

Plus the following error, is this one fixable, or do I need to exchange my BJ for another one?

I entered the web address, and keep getting this or the other error message...

note of the following things that happened, before the internet connection was lost several items: I did order Media Net 14.99 to buy Pac-Man, unsure if this did anything to the phone/settings, I also deleted some SMS messages I had gotten after ordering the game. I also accidentally dropped the phone onto a ceramic bathtile type flooring, so I am unsure what caused the internet not to work anymore, I think everything else works. I have not tried the phone or SMS yet to see if those two items work, but so far, NO SMS messages in a week and half. so I assume that's also out of order.

Error message:

"Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections"

Posted by: spunkyBJack

I just tested the SMS, it works, sent a test note to myself.

Now just tried the phone, works as I called myself LOL...

so just my internet isn't working. Oh the most beautiful thing about the dropping accident, nothing broke, still looks like brand new! Ahh...but
can't access websites, internet. Sigh...

Is the error message fixable that I posted about or am I stuck, to the exchange mail service? It's under 1 yr warranty.

My Blackjack with the latest leaked WM6 ROM does the exact same thing. It never did this before and when I flashed back to WM5, the problem went away. Flashing back to WM6, the problem reappeared. It's something with WM6. It is an unofficial, leaked, hacked ROM, so quirks like this aren't unexpected.

I shut the phone off at night, so it gets a fresh reboot every morning. It seems that about 2 days out of 3, it will just cease being able to access the GPRS network. No PIE, no email, no OTA Activesync. I've tinkered with the GPRS settings, and they are setup to the wap.cingular access point. The only thing that works is a soft reset of the phone (shut down, restart).

I can't pin it down to any specific activity that causes the disconnect. It just seems that at random times I'll notice that I haven't gotten an email alert for quite a while, and when I check the phone it'll be unable to connect. This is the only problem I've had with WM6.

Hey everyone,

I found a fix to the second issue.

I had this problem with my first BJ2, dinked with it, took it back to the store, swapped to a new phone, problem fixed. Then, after about a week, my second BJ2 started doing the same thing.

Only thing that fixed it was a hard reset of the phone ( because I didn't want to mess with taking the phone back ).

AND, I was able to determine culprit -- maybe one of you regedit gurus can dig deeper. When I plugged in the phone to my PC and established a new "connection" with ActiveSync, if you check the box ( option ) to make your internet / data available while your phone is plugged into your pc as you initially establish this connection, it will kill your internet connection on your phone for good, and you will see the above error until you re-hard reset the phone. I don't know what it changes in the registry, but you can repeat that error by trying to surf the internet on your phone while it's plugged into your pc ( usb ), and has an active sync connection.

So, sync all your contacts, calendars, tasks, etc, hard reset the phone ( Turn phone off....hold directional pad up while turning back on the phone and following directions on screen. )

Hope that helps.

I've been having this problem, so I hard reset and made these changes today. Too soon to tell whether this fixed the problem. However, it appears that this caused another problem. My wife sent me a multimedia text message today and I needed to change the Connections settings back to the default settings in order to view the photo she sent me via text message. Fortunately, I rarely receive multimedia text messages, but nonetheless, this is annoying.

I followed what was previously posted and did not work. Did a hard reset with formating and still did not work. Then I went to setting>connections>GPRS>AT&T IMS and changed my "authentication type" to CHAP........... Everything works fine now!

Thanx for the help guys.
