Need advice on contract

Hi all,
My friend just (last Tues) signed a two-year contract without getting a new phone or a new retention plan. Is there any way to renegotiate this contract for her? Someone else suggested that she cancel the contract and then renegotiate a new one. Is this possible? Is there a better way?

thanks

No one? No one knows the basic contract rules and restrictions? No one know Bells policy with this?

Her best bet is just buy a phone outright.

Other than not being able to back out of the contract, there isn't really a 'rule'. Call and find out what they can do.

Just because she resigned a contract doesn't mean she can't get new hardware. She probably will have less success getting a retention price plan though.

Why did she resign a contract without getting anything?

tell her to call back it; shes probably eligible for a $200 or $250 hardware upgrade credit to get a new phone... than of course see if they can throw in a some freebies for a few months?

Echid,
What was she thinking about trying to negotiate? Unfortunately if she signed the two year term already she would have to pay the ETP (early termination penalty) for wanting to cancel early. When it comes to contracts Bell, and most other providers, are not willing to negotiate the contracts. Let me know what she is thinking about doing and maybe I can steer you in the right direction..

I think she likes the plan she has right now, but she would like a new phone (I don't know why she didn't get one at the time). I think at the time she didn't realize what she could get with a new contract. Basically all she wants is a new phone. I haven't talked to her, but it would probably be in the A900/Fusic range.

im not a 100% sure how bell works but i believe if she hasnt talked 15minutes since tuesday and its been under 15 days, there is sometihng called "buyers remorse." basically its a refund on the contract BUT she has to pay for any calls she made, like a % of what she would of paid monthly depending on usage

no buyers remorse on contracts.

Well, apparently Bell has "loyalty points" that she can use to buy her new phone. Is this true? If it is then there is no problem with the contract, she just wants to update her hardware.

If she had hardware upgrade credits (or loyalty points if you prefer) available when she resigned, then she'd still have them available. Tell her to go to a bell world store and say that she just resigned for a 24 mth term, and she'll have anywhere from $50-$200 available for a new phone.

She could also call in to cancel and speak to retention, and basically say if she doesn't get a retention plan, then she'll cancel and go to another company. She shouldn't have much trouble, depending on how long she's been with us.

She won't get $200 on a 2 year contract. The most she'll be eligible for is $150.

Ah, that's right.

it depends on her previous tenure, she could of had a three year before she signed the new two yr.
