E-mail data plan on Blackjack question

I have the unlimited data plan for my Blackjack, plus 1500 text messages. I have all my email set up on the phone, but when I receive a new email it puts the little message icon at the top. This got me thinking: does receiving email (or even the notification that you have email) count as a text message, or just data? I'm pretty sure it's data, but wanted to ask the experts here to make sure.

Thanks!

It goes under data.

whoa whoa. So just getting the notifier itself is the same as going towards your data? So if I get 5 emails and 5 notifiers that come with it. Thats 10 right there?

I said data...not text messages...

If he is using his e-mail client through his phone, it is connecting through the internet, not through the SMS system.
