Hi Can anyone tell me if on the treo (Palm OS) you can:-

1. Smartdial ie, by pressing the number keys it filters your contacts by name or number?

2. Homescreen - will it display my appointments and tasks / ToDo list?

on the treo 680... there is a setting to choose either name or number. it is under display settings when you hit menu.

homescreen as in the launcher? if so... it will not. you need to go into the calendar app or use a custom launcher.

Have you looked into a WM Smartphone like the Treo 750?

Well i have had a WM before and it was great for this feature. However i have a heap of softwear from my TX.

I love the smartdial feature and the appointment list in the homescreen.

What is the custum launcher feature?

You can have appts show on the phone screen... or just keep your agenda view as your main screen when not using the phone.

To have appts show on the phone screen... go to phone display options under options on the phone screen and check "Show Calendar Event"... it will show one event at a time... until that events time has passed.

There's a program you can download call KeyGuardTime+ and it's like a screen saver for your Treo that shows your appointments and task whenver you turn on your phone....you can have it set when the keyguard is on or off, when the phone is turned on for the first few secs, etc as well as the appointment for the day/week. etc.

You can get it from MyTreo.net or do a google search...pretty usful app
