I'm going to China for 2 weeks and I am interested in buying mobile phones for my usage or resale. My only problem is i have no clue what will work US National providers - or specifically which models are hot and whats not. Mind you've i've just begun my research as i've been out of the mobile loop for some time but your suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated.

Just make sure it has GSM 1900 (or if you need it, GSM 850). Practically none of the Chinese-made "knockoff" phones will work in the States, but a couple do. If you are having trouble figuring out which ones, though, just save yourself the hassle and avoid them. Also, imported Japanese phones are good to have, but they're rising in price (unless you buy them secondhand- that's the only way to get a 903SH for less than $300, I think). I'm interested where in China you're going, though- I live in Shanghai, and can point you to some shops if you need that kind of info.
