Haha, this sounds like all the people who marvelled at a 10MB hard drive in an IBM PC circa 1980. Or those who said 700MB on one shiny portable disk would be all we'd ever need in the late 80s.

Dude, this is technology. And someone is always building something smaller, faster, more powerful, for the same price or even less. The half-life of any technology is no more than 6 months.

So, you love your 8525? Well, what if someone built the same phone, but smaller/lighter by about 20%, doubled the memory, and threw in built-in GPS for the heck of it? Oh and charged about the same, maybe only a little more than when the 8525 first came out?

The Kaiser or HTCP4550 or AT&T 8925 is just that. And its pretty much already here. As a matter of fact, AT&T has gone to the HTC guys and asked them to hold the phone back cuz they want to sell more 8525s before it comes out. So, the technology train is moving faster than the sales train in this case.

Yea but it doesn't do core things that would make it worth it... I.e. like 4 gig microSD no... bigger screen no... camera with optical zoom NO... Camera with real flash NO...

I mean I feel you in saying it is an improvement... But until they have a bigger capacity microSD... A much faster processor... A camera with a freaking optical zoom... Although the 8525 takes awesome pics in the light and if you walk in and out to zoom it... At night it is worthless and by far a optical zoom lenses has been LONG OVERDUE>>> I think the n95 has optical zoom doesn't it?

Is ATT holding this back also with the iPhone release looming?
I wish they'd hurry up and release it (the 8925)

to guys who say the kaiser aint better.... it is. it used a new qualcomm processor with hsupa. and 3.6MBPS HSDPA. it adds gps, doubles rom, doubles ram, slides other way, new slide that allows screen to flip up, and makes the camera 3mp. it is thinner also than the kaiser. it removes flash bc as u know no camera phone flash is that good anyway especially in htc phones and ir had bad range and who really uses it anyway with bluetooth in most laptops. by the way. microSDHC will work in the kaiser. how i know? well it works in the 8525/hermes/tytn with the wm6 rtm build 17745 roms like black shadow so why wouldnt the kaiser have it also. sure wed like a bigger screen or atleast same size but vga resolution but we cant have it all. 400mhz processor is enough and the kaiser will run good enough with 400mhz on the new qualcomm processor so u probably dont need more mhz with all the ram you get. and by the way no phone takes good night photos. all in all the kaiser is worth it

YOU DIDN"T ADDRESS MY MAIN POINTS...

He's saying it DOES support SDHC i.e. 4 gig MicroSD...

If you need a good camera, spend your money on a good camera. You won't find a great camera with flash and optical zoom in any cellphone that I'm aware of. Sure, there are some with 5MP but they aren't on par with other 5MP cameras.

I think you're seriously underestimating the impact of DOUBLE the ROM space and DOUBLE the RAM. Besides, if you're still running AT&T's WM5 ROM, a simple upgrade to one of the cooked WM6 ROMs will make you wonder why you didn't upgrade sooner.

I'll be buying a Kaiser the day it's available. I've had my phone for 7 months, and as much as I love it, I'm already bored with it

I wish they would hurry up with the Kaiser.
I am really like what I read about that phone.

I gave this issue some thought and wound up purchasing a 8525 last night (free after $50 rebate). I'm upgrading from a Smartphone 2003SE. Although the Kaiser looks to be an upgrade, albeit not a massive one, on the 8525 (and smaller is always better for me) it is unproven and at launch will be very expensive. For my needs I'll take a proven solid 8525 for cheap and consider the Kaiser later. It's all about what you want, what you need, and knowing that everyone has a different set of priorities.

very true,
however only sprint and T-Mo have a shipping windows PPC with windows mobile 6.0
Cingy/AT&T need to get the 8525 updated and/or release the kasier.
It will probably be at the same price point that the 8525 is now.
