I have tried to use Bitpim but my phone is not supported and i've become very frustrated due to this. I have tried going into the system files but they aren't the same as the 8500. Does anybody have any advice?

I don't exactly know what you mean, but this is how you can use a MP3 file as a ringtone:

- Upload your MP3 file to the MP3 player of the mobile phone (without turning on the modem, and without the Contents Bank, just to the memory).
- press options when playing the file, and there you can use it as a ringtone.

I hope this information is useful.

I tried what you said but i never got an option for using the mp3 as a ringtone. Is there any other way that this can get done. I would really like to not have to buy them.

i have the same issue but i think its because my phone is locked/branded with Fido thats why. i could be wrong.
i do have a mp3 file in my cell phone and it plays in the mp3 player as well but i don't get the option for assigning it as my ringtone

need help plz.

You have to play it in your MP3 player, then you got "options" on the bottom left corner, there used to be an option like "set as ringtone".

There isn't an option like that anymore. Any other ways of doing this or is everyone with an lg 800 basically screwed?

i still think its got something to do with the way its been flashed.
cuz i know others who are able to use MP3z as ringtones on their KG800.

I have a program named "MP3 to ringtone gold". It's another option..

Thanx Vanqu!sh ... i finally got it working. i didn't need to flash my phone. its still locked and branded with Fido but now i'm able to use MP3z as ringtones.
I went to the Fido store in Eaton Center and the guy there fed me BS saying you can't use MP3z as ringtones and phone won't allow it because Rogers/Fido were sued over using MP3z as ringtones. But he "forgot" to answer my question of what happens if we Download ringtones. where are the copy rights then?

anywhos, i pluged the phone with my laptop without turning the phone modem option on.
my system was able to find the folders in the phone but "ringtunes" folder is actually hidden and won't show until you apply the "show hidden files/folders" option.
you can then copy all the MP3z into your cell phone. when playing those from the RingTunes menu click the option button and then choose SET AS RING TUNE.
also it won't work on the number that are set within a group. you'd have to set the ringtone of that particular group to the same as you want.

hope this is helpful and once again thanx to Vanqu!sh i accomplished this with his help.

I am using Bell's Music Backup program to put songs on my KG800 Chocolate. I connect the USB to the phone and leave it idle (without going into USB mode) and I put my song on the phone. I go into the Music Player and I can play the song, but there is no 'Options' or any selection for Ringtone anywhere. Is there an alternative I can use?
