CDMA Phone for Texting?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm moving from HK to Iowa City, IA to start my study in U of Iowa. Since my current E680 is dying anyway, I would like to change my phone and, given CDMA networks get absolute advantage in coverage in IA, I think I have to accept the fact I can't bring a GSM phone from HK.

My usage in HK is about 500 minutes/month, and I suppose when I arrive here I would have the less amount of usage.

I am kind of a texting person; I perfer text over voice communication and would like a phone that I can text easily.

Email functionaility is not essential. I hope my monthly expense can be under $70.

Thanks for any ideas!

(I arrive in August; you may include phones that might be released by early August in consideration.)

The best text messageing phone for CDMA would be the LG VX9900 aka the Verizon Wireless enV. It has a full qwerty keyboard and does pretty much everything you need it to do.

Another good option is teh Samsun u740 which has dual hinge design but from what i hear sufferes from poor call quality.
