Anyone know the display properties on this phone for creating wallpapers?

Posted by: Chaoss

176 x 200

Posted by: Chaoss

on the memory card, in what folder do we put the mp3 ringtones and wallpapers?

Posted by: dschachm

the actual settings on the screen are 1200x1600

Posted by: Elfreshcuh

For wallpaper?

Posted by: robme

What program can I use to load ringtones and wallpapers onto the ic902?

Posted by: xx_jay_xx

I figured out how to load ringers using Motorola Mobile Phone Tools(ver 4.xx). Use CDMA v323, fire up Multimedia Studio. Click on Melody Studio. In the Melody Files window, there will be 5 tabs labeled "Samples, My Melodies, My PC, My CD & My Phone". You want to click and choose the "My Phone" tab. Drag and drop your mp3 file here! I successfully transferred four 30-sec mp3 ringers @ 44Khz, 96kbps STEREO! It works!

Posted by: PhatCatt

You cant use MPT with the IC902. Been trying for days now and that hint you gave only works with the IC502. Havent been able to get ringers on the 902 yet but still working!!

Posted by: xx_jay_xx

Make sure you have an updated version(4.xx +) Use v323 from the CDMA list when manually selecting a phone to connect with. It worked for me, it should work for someone else.

How are the ic902's wallpaper dimensions larger than the i880's but it has a smaller screen?

Posted by: jlemon7039

Can someone who managed to get MPT to work with an IC902 post step by step instructions on what they did to get it to work? I've added mine as a CDMA V323 and it will not connect to the phone.

Posted by: C_Vaughan

ic902

I also used MPT4 the newest version updated, i did everything said on these forums to load ringtones to the ic502 except I am able to just transfer wav's or mp3's with MPT4 to my ic902 without doing the purevoice conversion, everything works perfect. Sounds great too

MPT4 recognizes my ic902 when i select the v323

Posted by: jimmiceman

MPT won't connect to my phone either it keeps saying phone not connected. Please wait initializing. How long does it take to initialize? Anyone know the answers

You made sure, that you selected the v323? If so... then start all over, and create a new profile when you first open MPT4. I've had it hang on the initializing screen as well, and thats what i did to fix it.. I just went and created a new ic502/ic902 profile and started over from scratch. Just follow the instructions in this tutorial.

Posted by: shaunmood

I too am stuck on the initializing please wait screen. I created a new profile and i still am staring at this scrolling " Initializing...Please Wait"

I have selected v323

Posted by: ZeRO OF ALL

ic902 DOES work with MPT. It took me sometime as well to get it up and running but just keep at it and choose the v323 under CDMA. Its not something that will work right away. You do have to do some work and try some diffrent things. Sorry.

When you are at a loss. Restart the phone and computer and try agin. it works eventually. By doing that you reset the USB settings.

Good luck

Posted by: shaunmood

Ive been trying all last night and tonight with no luck... i also have 4.0.4 does that make a difference?

Posted by: shaunmood

I also have an unregistered version of MPT4... Would that make a difference?

And when i load up MPT it says Unkown error... but loads up fine.

And how long does it usually take to intitialize?

Mine initializes pretty much instantly.. I downloaded my MPT4 off a bittorent site... I don't think the program will change, being registered or not registered, Zero is right it does take some fiddling with... just keep at it. It will work. When you create a profile, do not have the phone plugged into your computer, do so when it goes to search, and asks you to plug the phone in.

Posted by: shaunmood

What did u fiddle with? Thats what im not getting.

What other steps do I take to make this work?

Did you restart your computer every time and shut the phone off every try?

Did you try different wires?

Do u absolutely NEED MPT4?

Can u put a ringtone on the mem card and get one that way?

Posted by: shaunmood

I also am using a canon camera usb wire. Does that even make a difference?
It fits in the phone and the phone recognizes the connection. But it doesnt charge while its connected.

Posted by: shaunmood

Just bought version 4.5.1 for 5 bux... hopefully this will solve my problem.

I personally used the cable that came with my digital camera... it's a basic data cable, any of them should work just fine. Yes you need MPT4, it's a must... When I said I fiddled with it, I just tried everything... Make sure you have wesscomm.exe shutdown in your processes, if you have an i930 or smartphone that uses sync software... My ic902 and ic502 connect with ease... I had more trouble with the 502 then the 902. But what I think you're having trouble with... is your computer actually recognizing the phone, not MPT4... Try a different cable... Try creating a new profile in MPT4 and starting from scratch, thats what I did... It should eventually work. I know I sound like a broken record... and I'm sure you've tried it a 1000 times. Unfortunately you cannot use music on your Micro SD Card as ringtones with the ic902. You can only use the music on the card, on the music player.

On a second note, dunno why I didn't just drop this hint a few days ago... but I tend to just get everything I have the easy way, with a ringtone/wallpaper/app/game loader.

http://www.funformobile.com

at this site you can upload and send your ringtones via text message... the text will have a link you go to the link and download your ringtone, very simple... very easy... and free, except for the data transfer, they also have THOUSANDS of free ringtones, full mp3's and wallpapers on that site, all ready to be sent directly to your phone... I tend to just use that over MPT4... One other perk I like...is when you use this method the phone recognizes the ringtones the same as it would if you bought them from sprint. With MPT4 you are loading them directly to the phone... so they can't be deleted without going back into MPT4 and manually deleting them.

Hope this helps some of you.

GOT USED CELL PHONES? Contact me I'm thinking about adding a used phone store onto my computer store.

Well I completely missed where you said you were trying to do all this on vista... I thought you were working with XP. But I did call it that your comp wasn't recognizing the phone... and it wasn't MPT4

Thats because you didn't.

But it's all good

Posted by: shaunmood

The comp DID recognize the phone. I was able to connect to the comp its self as a mass storage device. All it was was a missing driver. Vista sucks.

I'm not gonna argue with you.. But go read about what a driver is. The computer was obviously NOT recognizing the phone, or it wouldn't have been hanging on the initialization screen. It was recognizing the fact that you had a storage device plugged in. All this coulda been fixed a few days ago, if you woulda just mentioned... you were using vista. And honestly you can't say vista sucks, it does lack some much needed improvements, but if you were an avid XP user on it's release, it had many issues as well, not till service pack 2 did they actually reach a stable operating system.

PURPOSE OF A DRIVER = Device drivers simplify programming by acting like a translator between a device and the applications or operating systems that use it. The higher-level code can be written independently of whatever specific hardware device it may control. Every version of a device, such as a printer, requires its own specialized commands. In contrast, most applications access devices (such as sending a file to a printer) by using high-level, generic commands, such as PRINTLN. The driver accepts these generic statements and converts them into the low-level commands required by the device.

...A Little contradictory... and yes the computer DID recognize the phone... If the computer did not recognize the phone than i would have gotten no response at all. And Yes i know all about drivers...you said it yourself... its a translator but what you seem to be forgetting is that every program has its OWN or needs specific drivers. Theres not ALWAYS a universal driver. I may have not been able to connect it to MPT4 but i could connect it the computer directly. And MPT4 recognized that the phone was connected but itself couldnt read it with out the MODEM DRIVER.

So how are you going to say the computer its self was not connecting to it when i was transfering pics and music onto it via the cable.

So if you really want to get technical, it WASNT mpt4 that was the problem per se.

I dont mind arguing either... thats what discussion boards are for.

This was made by my frustration for lack of detailed instructions. I figured it out and wanted to share.

You can get a screenshot pdf guide here.... Linky

Or just the step by step text instructions bellow

Open Motorola Phone tools
Select New
Name the profile

Select the profile and click OK

The Cable should be selected:
Click Next >

Insert USB cable into Phone

Wait

Asks to update Motorola phone tools… Select No

Asks to setup your phone tool manually …. Select Yes

Click on Next>

Select Motorola USB Modem, Click on Next>

Check “Do not automatically detect the driver. Select from a list”, Click Next>

Select Motorola CDMA on the left pane, and select V323 on the right pane, Click Next

All done!

Enjoy ringtone and wallpaper uploads. Also you can sync your contacts! Not your direct connect radio though.

Posted by: erock198

What format should the ringtones be? Just regular 128 mp3s?

Posted by: grandstax

it doesnt matter the quality of the song just has to be mp3

Posted by: RobNyc

what programs to use to make ringtones ?

Posted by: grandstax

just download the song and chop it up in mpt4

Posted by: pimprico

where can i get Motorola Mobile Phone Tools(ver 4.xx). ?

Posted by: Gizmo_04

You can chop the tone or use the full length file if you want. If you don't have MPT, you can always store the ringtones on the SD card in the /MEDIA/voicerecords folder, and assign them from there. Just rename the .MP3s to .QCP files before you put them on the SD card

Cuz pixels aren't necessarily size, they refer more to quality than anything else...ie a 1080p 20 inch would have more pixels than a 720p 30 inch...ya dig?

why go through all that struggle??
as the previous writer suggested, chop off mp3 into approx 30 seconds mp3 file(you need mp3 editor for this) and just rename the file to YOU_NAME.qcp
once done, put that into your external SD card in voice recorder folder. that's it!!! so much easier and simple...

great idea junior if it wasn't 3 years late b/c that doesn't work...they need to be ON THE PHONE TO WORK AS A RINGTONE....

Posted by: fireballjr2001

I've learned to put mp3 sound as ring phone using a sound editor software (I use Sony sound forge but you can use any other) just cut about 40 seconds of the music that you want as ring tone, save it as "WAV" and then change its extension for "QCP". Copy the file to your micro memory card by computer in the voicerecords folder, inside MEDIA folder and then set that "voicerecords" as your ring tone. If you don't have a voicerecords folder in your MEDIA folder just record any voice record and the folder will be created. Good luck people....
