Trouble with DASH

I am hoping that someone can help me and that I have posted this in the correct place. If not, I apologize.

I have been using my Dash for months without any problem receiving emails and surfing the web. I am on the $5.99 plan and have, until this point, loved my phone. The past week or so, I am having a problem opening websites as I keep getting a "lost connection" error. I am, however, connected to EDGE and still receiving my emails. My exchange server, on the other hand, is intermittently working.

Yesterday, I entirely reloaded the WM6 ROM after many failed attempts with resets, cleared storage, etc. After the reinstall, the phone worked like a charm for about 6 hours. Now, I am back to not being able to use the data for sites in IE. I put my sim in another phone and it worked perfectly, so it is definitely something with the phone itself. TMobile even tried putting the Total Internet package on my phone and that did not work. So, somewhere, I have a setting that is changing or some data that is being corrupted. Can anyone shed some light on my problem?

I appreciate it and I will be glad to give more information if you need it.

Thank you,

Raeyne

Ditto here. Everything was working great until last thursday. My email works fine. Get lost connection errors on Pocket-IE using the WAP proxy on the old 4.99 t-zones plan.

Haven't tried the ROM reload, but not a bad idea.

Have you tried the T-Zones proxy settings in the FAQ? They appear to be different than the WM5 settings.

Yes. I have a T-Mobile Data and T-Mobile Data 2 settings recommended for WM6. It was working fine for about 3 weeks until last week. Now's it's impossibly slow if it connects at all.

if your settings are right then its a tmobile problem and there's not much you can do about it. tmobile has been locking down the system and lots of people are having problems trying to use tzones as a data plan.

I'm glad to see that it isn't just me having the problem. After many hours of troubleshooting this thing, I gave up. I called T-Mobile and they admitted that their only troubleshooting data for the Dash says to upgrade to WM6, so that obviously isn't going to do me any good. It is not just a proxy setting because I am unable to even use my WiFi to browse the web as I did before. I tried loading different browsers onto the phone and that did not work either. I had zero problems with my Treo, Moto, and iPaq therefore I have to believe that it is not just a setting that I am overlooking... it is a problem with the phone. So, I have another handset on its way from T-Mobile and I am hoping that it will work like the other one used to. Too bad that it's costing me $10, though. I know it isn't much, but exchanges used to be free... and for the $200/month that I pay for my phone, I don't think it would have hurt them. *shrugs*

Anyways, thank you everyone for trying to help and good luck to anyone else with a similar problem. I will let you all know if I have the same problem with the new phone which should be here tomorrow or Monday.

sounds like they're going to have to send you another phone.

Okay, just a quick update. After 3 hours on the phone with T-Mobile, they finally admitted that they shut down the port for DASH users in the Atlanta market and that is why I can no longer access the way that I used to. Now, let me state this: I am not angry that they changed their WAP policies... I am mad that it took me six phone calls for someone to just tell me the truth. I am also mad that I can place my SIM in any other phone and not have this problem. I am also incredibly peeved that I had to argue with two different people to get my $10 shipping and handling back on a phone that I didn't need... especially since this is a problem they are well aware of.

On a brighter note, however, I played around with multiple settings last night and finally got my phone to browse through the basic data plan again! I had to change the settings slightly from what is listed on the "CORRECT" settings thread, but all is well again. I still cannot access my Exchange server anymore, but that is no big deal.

Anyways, do not listen to T-Mobile's garbage about how the $29.99 plan is now required for Dash users... it's a marketing ploy.

Good luck, all

If you can locate a "good" T-Zones thread (there are 75 of them), I'm sure someone would be interested to know about the shutdown...

I was having a similar problem. I just got my Dash, upgraded it to WM6 immediately upon arrival and sync'ed up all of my data. I do subscribe to Total Internet $29.99/month since I use my laptop at tons of Hotspots so it's worth it for me.

However, I could not get my Dash to connect to the Internet using GPRS. It was fine with Wi-fi, but not through wireless. I kept getting the message that "the remote party has ended the connection." After playing around with it for a few excruciating hours I called T-Mobile. The rep did a "reset" of my Internet access, told me to reboot, and then I hung up with them because it was supposed to be fine after 1 hour. NO LUCK.

After playing around some more, I called T-Mobile again talking to someone who sounded MUCH more knowledgeable in their PDA Smartphone troubleshooting department. He said he needed to do several "resets" of the backend side of my Internet access configs. After about 90 seconds, he told me to reboot the phone, and voila! My access was back.

The rep went on to tell me that this happens regularly - sometimes, something causes the Internet access permissions to freeze, and it needs to be manually released.

So, I would try calling T-Mobile again and see if they can try this for you.

Hope that helps.
