Bored with ATT Phones Lately

Anyone feel the same way? It seems like they're lacking so much. I have a v3xx and I can't see any phone that is better besides the obvious smartphones.

Yep, that's why I bought an unlocked phone and put my Cingular (AT&T) SIM card in it.

The problem with that is most of the best phones IMHO are triband only and will not even work for Cingular.

Some are, some aren't. The challenge is to find one that is not. I happen to use a phone that AT&T offers, but I purchased an unbranded one because the provider junk weighs the phone down too much.

My next phone will be an unlocked, unbranded Series 60 phone, unless at&t gets their shizzle together.

Most of the phones I like are made by Nokia or Sony Ericsson. They carry a couple that have the 850MHZ but most are only triband and that sucks. I would like to see the Nokia N93 or the SE K850 with quad.

I guess I am lucky in that all the phones I like (that I can afford) are compatible with Cingular.

I'm actually looking forward to the new RAZR coming out. It has a HUGE external screen. I'm all about external screens, my current screen is sooo tiny. and dim. makes me sad.

That was my number one complaint with the Razr. When I was with Verizon they rubbed it in by not letting you change the display in the external screen (nothing a USB cable and some seem edits couldn't fix). Thats why I upgraded to the LG VX8600. But the new Razr looks awesome, I wonder if the boss will let me write it off as a business expense. Like that's gonna happen.

It has a nice resolution of 240x320 on the outside as well. i thought the nokia 6126 had a nice outside screen, but this blows it away

Get a SE K790a. Or in the fall get the 3G 5MP K850i.

There isn't one phone I like in the lineup.

Am I the only one on this forum that doesn't care about the iPhone?

im with you. iphone is crap

ATT also needs to start making all their phones with GPS.

My feelings exactly, just because it says Apple on it doesn't immediately make it the best phone in the world.

You mean like what they had in the new Bond movie? That was awesome....but seriously, it would be great to have it on every phone.

Yeah, my last 2 phones have been unlocked. But when we say we are unhappy with the current selection of phones, what features are we actually missing? What do we want on our phones that we currently cannot have?

I say:
1. Improved camera resolution (5-8 MP)
2. *REAL* GPS with POI and LBS
3. Reliable wireless stereo
4. *REAL* 2-way video calling
5. Size that is dictated only by the screen size, not hardware

All of these features are available now on cellphones, just not all together on one phone from ATT. What else? What features am I missing?

More candybar, less flip.

More Nokia. Maybe the 850 version of the 6300 or my personal favorite, the 6120 Classic .

I finally broke down and got my own unbranded e50. Love it so far.

The only reason why I get phones from the stores is because of all the rebates...but their phones are kinda boring and crappy

I agree, I think the iPHone is going to be the only phone out there that's going to blow away the competition though, even though it's nice on the outside, but missing alot of features, you know? And it's too expensive for the avg. person.

The Nokia N75 seems like a pretty solid phone.

I have the money for an iPhone and I could go buy one tomorrow if I wanted to, but the thought of paying $500 for a phone isnt logical to me. When the price lowers, you bet I will own one. That is the only reason I didn't care for it.

Well, I paid $700 for my unlocked Treo 600 and $500 for my unlocked Treo 650 (unlocked no-subsidy prices.) So I shouldn't judge those who pay $600 for an iPhone which rivals those today.
But at the time they were both the best there was, highly anticipated, and very very cool. And I felt $600 was worth it if I used it for 2 years. I really did get my money's worth out of it I think, especially if you consider how much monthly service cost over 2 years.

But I swore I'd never spend that much on a phone again. Maybe $400 for the latest greatest PDA before rebates after subsidy. And even that stings. It really needs to be an impressive upgrade.
After taking it up the *** twice on the Treos, it really feels like a big waste of money down the road.

Fortunately with Premiere I have a Treo 750 $175 after MIR, and my wife a 680 $50 after MIR, and that doesn't sting. And I think they both do just as much or more.
But that screen on the iphone is crazy awesome.
