Smartphone/pocketpc phone on AT&T

I'm looking to get a new device, i'm looking for more or less an 'all in one' instead of just a cell phone.

Preferably AT&T able (will switch to verizon if I can hack the hell out of the phone software though)

Looking for something with windows mobile that could do tons of functions and get data (although, if unlimited data plans are still $60/mo, I can't afford that) I allready have a contract with AT&T that started up a few months ago actually, so I really don't want to switch. A full qwerty keyboard on the device, anything like a palm would be great too. I want a device that can 'do it all'. Also, if I do get unlimited data, I would want the phone to be 3G capable, it's 3G up where I do my work. I was looking at the AT&T 8525 and it looks like it may suit my needs, but am unsure of all my other options. Seeing as how I will probably be spending a boatload of money, I'd like to research this alot beforehand.

One thing before you go too far. If you have an ATT phone, it cannot be used on Verizon. Totally different technology. So you really need to decide on a carrier first.

What do you want to do with the phone? Email? SMS? Music? Edit Word and Excel? Surf?

You won't find one device that "does it all" however. they all have quirks and issues.

Seeing as how I allready have AT&T, i'm probably going to stick with it. I plan on using it for e-mail and surfing, assuming I can afford an unlimited data plan...

However, if I cannot, then I'll at least get SOME data for emails, and use it for making documents (word, excel, would be VERY nice), setting up meetings, reminders, a nice calandar function, making/recieving calls, and of course, sms/mms messages. prefer a full qwerty keyboard and a touchscreen interface too

If you need to read and edit word and excel then a Pocket PC is the answer (i.e ATT 8525). I have heard Smartphones with WM6 (ATT Blackjack) will also be able to do that, but I have not used WM6 yet.

I actually had a Blackjack for about a week, I found that the keys were too small for my gigantic thumbs, and the battery life was pretty weak. I'll do some more research on the AT&T phone, maybe find out just how 'customizable' it is!

So I gotta look for pocketpc phone / WM6, thanks
