i.trek powered mount for 8525?

I just purchased and received the i.trek powered cradle with built-in speaker for my 8525.

It's a custom mount with a built in mini-USB molded into the base, an amplified speaker, and a port to charge an external GPS receiver. It looks like it also may have an audio-in jack on the side.

Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone else out there has one of these? The reason I ask is because when the 8525 is in the cradle and a call comes in, the amplified speaker (built into the cradle) goes nuts with the typical buzzing sound you'd hear if you brought your cell phone near a speaker.

My cradle is either defective, or someone didn't think ahead to the distortion caused by the 8525 when a call is made or received in the cradle.

Hopefully someone has one and it works fine? I made sure the phone was snug on the connector. I also tried pairing a bluetooth headset to the phone and making/receiving calls on it so it wouldn't involve the phone's speaker... but nothing helps. The amplified speaker on that cradle goes nuts when there's a phone call or text messaging in progress.

I have been using this mount for several months now and have not had the problem you have described. Mine came with a patch cord which is used to connect the "audio-in" jack to the speaker below it. I'm not sure but I think that this connects the audio-out from the 8525 to the speaker. If you have set yours up this way and it still has the problem, then I suspect that your unit is defective.

There is a problem with these units that causes a slight crackling/popping noise when the power is turned on and the 8525 is actually charging. When the unit is fully charged, the noise stops. I purchased mine from Semsons and have discussed the problem with them. They have acknowledged the problem and offered to exchange it for an Arkon powered mount that was more expensive. I declined their offer because I am very happy with this one and it works very well with my bluetooth GPS unit.

I am running TomTom 6 and the iTrek mount provides power to both the phone and the GPS. I works very well. Incidentally, the 8525 fits very tightly into the mount and use can use it in either portrait or landscape mode. You should never insert it while the phone is powered on. It will turn on the camera.

Unfortunately the 8525 has no audio jack. The mini-usb connector provides power & functions through that one port.

I also got mine from Semsons and it doesn't look like the picture they have displayed on their webpage. I think this might be newer. The amplified speaker is enabled as soon as the phone is cradled.

There is still an audio jack on the side of the unit, and I'm not sure it's in or out. When trying it out again yesterday the buzzing sound went away after the initial call attempt before the ringing started. I also got a call from someone and it initially started buzzing but then went away when I answered it. Unfortunately the person on the other end couldn't hear me at all, which I believe is because the mic is completely covered by the bottom molding of the cradle.

I hope that audio jack on the side is an audio-in, so I can maybe hook up a mic, but I doubt it. That would make this an idea hands-free car kit and GPS speaker setup. But as long as the buzzing stops, I'll likely just get a bluetooth headset and start using that in the car while the phone charges in the cradle.
