Are there any decent USA solutions for the Nokia 9300b? I've looked around but it seems like most of the options are for european maps (navicore etc.). It seems like TomTom 5 should work on the 9300 but it's not listed as a compatible device...anyone know for sure or have some experince using navigation software on the 9300b?

thanks

If you dont need a standalone program (meaning GPS software that does not require a constant data connection for the maps) then I would recommend using Wayfinder 6. I used the trial version and it gave me turn by turn instructions with the communicator closed.

Mobile GMaps is another alternative, however I could not get it to work on my 9300b (java error), but this may be "fixed" with a firmware upgrade (from someone like iunlock.com). Mobile GMaps is free.

I downloaded Wayfinder 6 for North America. It was a pretty solid program. My only issue I never get the "start from GPS" option when trying to get directions somewhere (maybe it's a weak GPS signal). Besides that minor bug it was a solid piece of software

Hey CRW6620,

Just curious what firmware you're running on your 9300b? I've got the latest (6.27) and I'm getting java errors when trying to run MGMAPS. I never tried it with cingular's firmware and I'm hoping unlocking and upgrading the firmware isn't the cause of my MGMPAS Java issues!

I'm using an Unlocked Cingular Nokia 9300b with firmware 6.03 dated 2/22/06. It does not run MGMAPS. The program runs, but as soon as I ask it to connect to GPS Device via Bluetooth it goes into Java error and exits MPMAPS. I was hoping firmware 6.27 upgrade would be able to correct, but according to your post, similar failure occurs. I have run MGMAPS on a Nokia E61, and it worked Fine (a little buggy, but OK otherwise).

Presently I'm using NAV4ALL on the 9300b, and it does the job, plus its free. I would suggest giving it a try.

I am running a 9300i with FW 5.50 (0) and have Tom Tom 5.20 for Symbian running just fine. I am using a PALM External GPS made by (HOLUX) and have had zero issues.

Since I have had my 9300i I can tell you, there is a ton of bad info on the net so trial and error and extensive checking of what you read is the key.
