8525: best mount?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is there a mount that will rotate, so you can view the 8525 in either portrait or landscape mode? If it provides power to the 8525, that would be a plus..

iTrek powered mount. Check at Semson's.

keep in mind attaching anything to the windshield is illegal:

CA vehicle code 26708. (a) (1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows.

does this actually rotate? I don't see it mentioned. Or do you just rotate it and the flex-arm compensates..?

-Matthew (not in California)

The gooseneck is flexible enough to rotate the unit at will.

Same one I used while on vacation using TomTom6 Charges both the phone and GPS receiver

I was in California, good thing I didn't get caught. Didn't know about that law.

Third the Proclips mount. I have the powered mount, and replaced the power adapter with the y-cable that came with my 8525 so I can charge and play music through my car stereo while it's cradled. It's NICE.

Re: Proclips

These all look like either/or solutions: either vertical or horizontal.. They all say Tilt/swivel base, but I don't see any of them actually swiveling 90 degrees left or right..

EDIT: Wait- I see now, they all say 'can swivel 360 degrees'.. Duh! Still: a hefty price, plus doesn't seem easily transferable from one vehicle to another..

Re: Oncourse Car Kit Edition 2

This looks much more like what I'm wanting (2A power supply! wow!).. However, I still don't see that it can swivel from vertical to horizontal.. I do see left/right and up/down axles, but not swivel. Even so, this one looks hard to beat (best price, too)..

I want the ability to rotate the screen so I can watch TV or movies when I want to, and rotate it back up when I'm through. Is a flexarm/gooseneck the only option?

My Proclips mount can swivel so I can watch TV in landscape. They sell a mounting kit that makes it easily removable for swapping between cars also.

You can't swivel it. You can, however, easily remove it from the vertical position and mount it again in the horizontal position. It is very easy to remove and stays on very well when mounted. There is a lever to control the suction cup for quick release/mounting. It's easy to transfer between vehicles.

The built-in speaker is an added bonus too. Very ideal mount if you'll be using GPS.
