Cameras that can beat the 903SH

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Here is a list of phones so far that I know has potential just like the 903SH if not, a little worse or better:
ONLY PHONES THAT CAN WORK ON GSM

SONY k800: a little worse than 903SH
I-MOBILE: 5MP VERY good
Nokia N95: 5MP better than 903SH
904SH: Though not unlocked yet, still the same or better or worse
LG KG920: Very good

If anyone has more, put them down on the list.

Sony k850: 5MP

I have not been impressed by the N95 shots I have seen. They are ok, but not that much better and often worse than the 903SH/K790a/K800i etc.

I-mobile is very nice. Too bad as a phone its horrible. Same with the LG KG920. I really wanted the LG, but after checking it out it was just really bad overall. Camera was nice, but the I-mobile is better and easier to use. I hope the K850i will be nice.

Posted by: xc0

lol. yeah i know... I-mobile is from thailand.. and you 'know' thailand o_O...
hahaha....

I-mobile has extremely good night shots...
it seems as though thailand some how shoved phone capabilites into a 5MP camera. its a camera more than a phone.

whereas the 903SH is a camera-phone. not more one thing or the other thing. its functions and camera balance out.

oh angel_wing0, that was a good move. thanks for making my day! ^_^

i-mobile doesnt count cause they suck in general.

N95's shots are worst then 903 when u have 3.2 vs 3.2

K800, K810 is worst then 903

904sh is worst cause it has higher compression

K850 unknow

n73 - purple

i-mobile isn't that bad, if your just looking for a phone with a good camera.

The OP's topic is on Camera quality... so functions of the i-mobile 902 and whatever you're referring to by "in general" isn't really relevant to the discussion, so... the Imobile does still count.

Pachi:

those are one of the better N95 pictures that i've seen, the majority of the ones I see are very poor quality. good job

imobile took awhile for me to get the hang of but I eventaully started taking semi descent pictures, IMO it takes slightly better pictures than the N95 because in full size the 902 seems to pick up more detail than the n95 (which turns a bit blotchy) but on the other hand the 902 at full size does have a fair amount of noise. and the 903 is somewhere in the middle there lol

i'm not a good photographer.. but w/e here goes

i-mobile 902

Sharp 903

Dam those pictures are sweet. Where you shoot the purple flowers at? Nice job.
Lets get some more pics rolling.

i would still pick 903sh over n95. like aznboi said resolution at 3Mp is really bad compared to the 903sh. of course at 5MP n95 wins if you feel like waiting 5 secs for the image to set in and then shrink it in photoshop just so the image isnt enormous

xc0-yoko-jimmy stop starting these threads to malign your favorite phone

Posted by: olouie99

pachi, those are some nice macro shots. do you have any of landscapes? I always knew the N95 did good macro, but havent been too impressed by the landscape / portrait pics I have seen around the web.

Posted by: azn_boi_128

Just updated my n95 today and took some pics and compared w/ 903

903 > N95

and got some pics from the iphone as well... they suck even more its like the res. of w300

wow, great thread... i used 903sh before and never doubt for the cam quality, and vid too...next phone, 904sh (hope so)...

Posted by: RogerPodacter

sorry to dig up an old thread, but i'm just now getting to play with the camera on my new n95-3. i was a little disappointed at first cause the pics seemed blurrier than i would expect when i zoomed in to 100%. but the other pics from this thread look similar to the n95, so i guess it is decent. i'm not a photographer, just a point and shoot guy. the pics look acceptable to me!

If N80 had AF, it wud be so much better than the N73

i have had all major brand 2mp+ cam phone, my top picks ar still 903SH anf N95
903Sh still gives me the unrivaled quality, i dun know if it i because hey are made in japan hahahah
N95 is a bit better because stronger flash? and shutter respond is a faster compare to 903sh
IF SHARP PUT IN SOME IMPROVEMENT INTo THE SHUTTER SPEED on their camara, then i think i am down on my knees to SHARP
but , sharp jap, they are greedy, so they dun like thir phone sold all over the world,
903 is still the best camara phone i think - minus the shutter lag,
I am using a N95 now, cuz of WiFi and GPS

i like 903sh and N95 equally

Posted by: Evo_jai

just a note, Samsung's D900 and U600
both have a 3.2MP AF camara with flash under their sleeve

I had them both, D900 handels night time shoots pretty well,

Posted by: aw614

how was the m900i? Not comparing to the 903, but like compard to the 902

since I noticed you had an m900i

Posted by: Evo_jai

i had that m900 like when other phone only have .3mp era
it is 1mp camara and softwear max to 2mp
the quality is not that great, and that phone is er a bit plastic
the screen was amazing thou, itz not a bad phone
902sh is also a bench mark for 2mp as well, lol
to tell the truth, i been lovin all sharp 9XXsh
i want to get a pure black SX833 (hk version of 903sh) with euro firmwear
look sweet

I had the U600, and the pictures had fantastic quality. However, the camera was incredibly slow, and the shutter lag was horrendous. The 903SH still beats that. The N95....waaaaaaaaay too large for my taste. It's hard to top the 903SH, as even the 904SH has a lousier camera (too much software compression).

Posted by: RogerPodacter

what do you mean the n95 is too large?

so it seems most people here are happy with the n95 camera quality? at least for a phone. since i dont know much about pictures, i kinda didnt like the quality at first. the pics look great on the screen. but when i zoomed in to 100% it looked fuzzy and blurry edges. then i saw some pics from other cameras and it looked sorta similar.

so what is the disadvantage of the n95 as a camera compared to higher end cameras? i read something about the CMOS? couldnt they fit a good one in theref since the phone does have some room in there? or did they have to use a cheaper/lower end sensor due to budget or space limitations?

Posted by: aw614

i think its the software processing, especially with the n73 and n95. its always a bit too blueish

910SH 5 mega pix, has anyone used this phone? My wife has one and my friend is leaving japan and going to sell me his. Wondering how this camera is. The wife doesn't really like it. But it is a sharp so I'm all over it.

Posted by: KayJai

If it's cheap, get it.
The 5.0MB Camera isn't as good as the 903SH's 3.2MB.

But I see that you Do not have a 903SH, so yeah, get the 910SH if it's cheap

Posted by: KBoardBox

The 910 is useless outside of Japan though, no GSM. I'm not even sure if the PSS SIM solution would work for that in Europe and Asia for the 2100Mhz 3G

Posted by: martindesu

The 910SH is worse than the 920SH (for unlocking) and doesn't have GSM...

Posted by: takumi906

the video recording is the 910sh strrong point imo and not the still camera.

Posted by: dav34

If you wanna compare camera shots, do it in low light conditions.
Most outdoor or good/enough lighting produce good quality photos.
Unless, they are "really" bad cameras...

Posted by: NitenDoraku5

I got my 910SH!!!! He also gave me the sim card so now I have 3 extra sims, so here is a couple of shots of my new phone. I only paid 30us for it.....

Check it out here...

Couldn't figure out how to embed the pics into my post....

Posted by: martindesu

910SH really is the big brother of the 903SH isn't it?

I don't think it works with PSS-Sim.... 905SH didn't.

Let's assume the 816SH for phonecalls/910SH and the iPhone for travelling to the states (or whilst away).

Posted by: fr4c

the camera on the 903SH is definitely better than my N95 8GB, and lets not mention the camera on the iPhone.

the only other phone that I'm interested in comparing would be to the N82, or the newer SE Cybershot phones. more particularly I would like to see the performance of the N82 head to head with the 903SH.

Posted by: shaznizzle

Honestly.. it doesnt mean picture quality will be improve or "better" due to higher megapixel. Its all in the processing power and lens quality..
