Not sure how to change outside lcd open image on a v3m

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

First off I would like to say that I have learned quite a lot poking around here and hope to learn more. OK. Now I have changed the outside lcd images on verizon phones left and right, Its quite easy. But I am with a carrier called MobiPCS which is based in hawaii. (Its kind of like MetroPCS if youre familiar with the name) Its a CDMA network, and I have a V3m. Now Stock it displays the "Motorola" Text on the outside screen. I can change that to whatever I want, however I cannot enable a gif to work at all. I have tried the 2771 2772 seems that make it attempt to locate the verizon.gif in a/mobile directory. That did not work. I tried naming it mobi.gif and mobipcs.gif. Still no luck. Reverted back to original seems for those 2 and still Nothing with the files named accordingly. I cant seem to get this thing to work. I am pretty sure its a moto UI just by the non branding (also I can freely from the phone change the banner displayed on the idle screen) and it displays my wallpaper and time on the outside lcd when closed. All I am looking for is the outside lcd when open to be different (non text) and it never displayed a image EVER. My software version is NCR_01.1A.00R and my flex version is XS4DST01V3M1NA38.0R_PRlkk76257, and the SU MOdel shows V3mm.

Hopfully theres a bit of insight one could offer me.

Forgot to add that there was no images to start with out of the box. If that helps a little more.

Also I have posted on another forum and havent gotten a direct answer to this, but is there a way to FORCE the v3m to display a image that never existed in the first place?

Try seem 2742 Offset 27 Bit 0 - Outer LCD Text (Bit ON) / Graphics (Bit OFF)

Ok. originally that bit was set to off. Turned it on, and powercycled the phone. Still Displayed Motorola, Turned it back to off and powercycled again, still displayed motorola. Not working. I also tried the memory card seem edit and that did not work either, it just displayed /b/external.gif on the outside lcd. I really hope that I am not bound to only having text because that would bite big wind.

Is there a way to force it to show a image?

P.S. I really dont want to flash to alltel because I am not sure if I already have that FW or if it is factory moto firmware.

Does it matter if it says its a V3mm?

Thats what I thought when I read the post.

Try this site - Outsie LCD Screw up fix and follow all of the instructions exactly, and it might help.

As linked in Item #47 on my How To's -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/HowTo.htm

Are you clicking the little button that says "write to phone" after seem editing. It sounds stupid, but it's not sounding like your saving these edits.

hm.... Tried that whole olcdp thing. Followed step by step word for word, now my outside lcd displays /a/mobile/olcdp/v.gif

I would like to note that there was no motorola logo when I bought it from the wireless store, it displayed Motorola on the screen in text only. but it displayed the wallpaper when closed. Through many seem edits to 2771 and 2772 (primarily 2771) it displayed whatever was typed into 2771 never 2772 seem. I was wondering if there is something screwy in either my sw or flex that may be preventing it, or if it is because my phone is a V3mm instead of a V3m (it is a CDMA phone tho)

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Edit: Would flashing add the ability to see the images?

V3MM = V3M with "multimedia features" enabled i.e. the ability to MPT's MultiMedia Studio features.

I agree. Are you writing to your phone after you do the seem edit that toggles text/picture?

Posted by: knightwing808

Yes I am because after I close the seem editor and reset my phone and then do a power cycle, and it doesnt I have to re open my editor, and then re read the seem and it shows what I put last (also it asks if I really want to write seem to phone.) ooh and it displays what was put ito those seems in text when I open my phone. so I am pretty sure that I am writing the seems
