Would a replacement W810i be AT&T branded now?

Due to a mishap with my W810i, it looks like I'll have to submit an insurance claim to get another one. What are the chances that the replacement will be AT&T branded rather than Cingular?

I guess I should also ask, are insurance claims filled with new like phones or refurbished?

Refurbished, but you won't be able to tell. I had to XBM my black W810i due to a faulty camera, and I swear, the phone they sent me was nicer than the one I had, which had no scratches, never been dropped etc.

As for it being AT&T branded, 50-50 chance I would say.

I don't think AT&T branded W810i's exist... I could be wrong though. I placed an order for a W810i on Premier today.

Personally, I can no longer stand provider branded phones. Unbranded is really nice. I know that you can unbrand using an online service.

Yup wotan or davinci or DIY. unbranded software is indeed very nice

I believe you are right. There are only Cingular branded w810i's available through AT&T.

It's pretty funny, the only phone I have EVER used that hasn't had one bug or mess up in any way, shape, or form was an unlocked, unbranded one (v3i).

That alone is the reason why I am thinking of buying an unlocked unbranded w810i. White this time

EDIT/

Sorry to hi-jack your thread. But I would ask the XBM rep. I don't think they have branded the w810i's at&t yet, but I could be wrong.

Branded, unbranded, sounds like we're talking about cattle or some other farm animal.

ugh, looks like i cancelled my insurance a long time ago and forgot about it. the CSR said they aren't allowed to add it back on 30 days after purchase anymore. i'm SOL.

I ordered a cu500v before my w810i and my cu500v was at&t branded but not my w810i.

Refurb'd phones usually appear to be brand new. A lot of sellers on eBay do pass them off as brand new... you can tell if they take a picture of the box it came in, it says refurbished right on the side.

Unfortunately, it looks like you are going to have to buy a new phone.

Sorry for your loss, my w810i went in the toilet, so I know your pain.

at the very least, i'm able to take advantage of their no-commitment pricing options.

Sony Ericsson W810i...

No Commitment Base Price $319.99
*Mail-in Rebate Card - $100.00
*Online Price $219.99 (AR)

doesn't seem all that bad i guess. i wonder if it'll drop anytime soon?

You can find an unlocked/unbranded for that much. Search around online.

myk03 - nice choice on the phone/color. I love mine.

i've had bad luck in the past buying offline from ebay (won't ever do ebay again - got stiffed for a $200 once and $150 another time) and some other website just never came through for an unbranded phone. unlocking is no big deal, but i would prefer unbranded for the same price from a reputable dealer. any suggestions?
