I need a little help. My company is installing a Blackberry Server next month and obviously we are getting Blackberry's. The company account is through Verizon, but have have always stayed with at&t for business use. Are there any HSDPA Blackberry's in the works? The Curve looks great, but with the lack of HSDPA, I will not be able to tether. Thanks for the input.

Currently no BB has wireless or 3G, unless you equate Verizon's EVDO to 3g (which I do). In any case the Verizon 8830 as EVDO and is faster than EDGE. However, you won't really notice much difference in speed unless you tether to your laptop.

There are rumored 3G devices on the horizon, but when they get released is anyone's guess, especially after the legal issues surround the Qualcomm problem.

As for what you can and cannot do, that is up to your company. If they are installing BES and providing BBs or giving you access to the BES, they will most likely control what you can and cannot do with the BB by establishing IT Policies to all devices that hit the network and the servers. You probably need to talk to the IT Dept and the BES Admin.

Not in the near future... Perhaps a year down the road or so.

If there was one on the way you'd certainly see a lot of chatter about it.

You can tether. Now, whether you want to or not is another matter.

True, and for another year or so I can hook up some rabbit ears and watch tv.

I did check with them and they are cool with me keeping with Cingular if I chose. My two options are get the Curve or the 8830 on Verizon. Maybe Verizon could throw two more GSM bands on it and I could use it on Cingular with EVDO for data.
