I can't seem to connect with my home 802.11b/g wireless network. Recognizes it's existence, returns "802.1x authenication error. The wireless net is running WEP security inshared mode. Keys inputted correctly. Any ideas? A cingular customer

u have to enter the settings thru "settings" first.

In the N95 thread others have a similiar problem. What are the settings. I have downloaded the cingular settings and WEP keys. One message suggested a problem with how V11 handles DCHP, suggesting manually inserting DNS etc info. Another suggested clearing port addresses. What's the answer, firmware problem or some other work around.

using wifi has nothing to do on your cingular settings...

The mobile sees the wireless net, knows that it's WEP security but when it does the authenication sends back a message "Unable to connect with 802.1x shared WEP key authenication problem. Have checked and rechecked the WEP key and can't seem to see anything wrong. There is a laptop connected to the net. Could that be interfering with the connection. Can only one device be talking to the syslink access point (WAP54G). Should work. Any ideas?

Are you trying to enter the authentication manually, or have you embedded it in the access point definition? I think you need to define that in the access point so it's done transparently when you connect.

I wouldn't expect the laptop to be creating any issues, and you should be able to have multiple devices working simultaneously.

Try connecting to other networks...... a secure one and an open one just to see where the problem might be (specifically, is it the phone, is it authentication..... or what?)

I did finally get connectivity by switching to WPA encryption. Seems like the Nokia doesn't like WEP except under 802.1x protocols which is some kind of third party authenication procedures used by Corporations. Still trying to find out more about it and whether my linksys WAP54G supports it. Thanks for the help
