Strobe, AIM, and MetroPCS

I've seen at least one other post on this topic.
Is there any way to get AIM on the Kyocera STROBE with metropcs service? It's driving me crazy that they sell a QWERTY flip phone and provide gmail access, but AIM and other IM services are not available. 
Anybody know a way to do this?
