Best Reception Phone

Hi,

I'm new to the site and have been trying to read all of the information I can. I am currently a Verizon customer with 4 active lines and am looking to change to Cingular.

I currently have the Motorola E815 and in 20 years (yes, since bag phones), this has been the BEST phone I have ever owned. The reception is absolutely amazing and gets a signal where nothing else has.

Anyway, when I visited my local Cingular/AT&T store, they suggested either the Motorola V365 or the Razr V3xx for the best reception. However, I believe the best information is obtained from a group of users such as yourselves, so all suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The V3xx has excellent reception. I live out in the middle of nowhere in a house with old metal siding and a metal roof and I get plenty of signal in my house with this phone, where other AT&T phones cant even register on the network.

You will probably find that most people here will recommend the V3xx on signal strenght alone. Plus it has a well upgraded Motorola interface that you are used to with the E815. (I had the E815 on Verizon and I agree it was the best of the best for them.)

The Samsung A717 gets better reception than the Motorola V3xx.

I've tried the A717 in my house... was a no go. The V3xx consistantly gets better reception in every area I have been.

Although i have not personally used the V3xx myself i do know a few people with them and it does get very good reception. Also the E815 was a truely amazing phone for reception but the charge port on that phone is its achilles heel and makes me truely hate that phone. So by going to the V3xx you will use the mini usb which is 1000 times more solid of a connection.

P.S. I don't think vzw has any phones with RF that even come close to the E815.

I think W810i gets spectacular reception.

Ever since my blackjack had the AT&T alpha tag, my reception has got worse in my house (I'll use it when I like to go on medianet or text since I have unlimited on it--I may cancel medianet on the sync and swap sims if I have to) I consistantly use the sync (separate phone #) because it has good reception in the house. Now, my father has a sync also and it doesn't work well in the house. I guess it depends on certain factors such as the area and possibly the sim. Sometimes it needs to be updated too.

Hi,

I really appreciate the input that has been given here. I notice that no one even commented on the Motorola V365, so maybe I should just throw that idea out the door.

I'm not familiar with the A717 mentioned, but for now it looks like the V3xx is coming up a winner. If anyone thinks different, please let me know, as I have to do this in the morning.

Thanks!

Ignore the A717 it's awful. We had one just horrible.

This is interesting, as my reception went to nill at my house with my BJ around the time Att took over. BUt it also happened arond the time the leaves all popped on the trees and being in an already spotty area, I wonder if this is the cause. However, my 3xxx does get reception and having reception at the house is important. I've since sold the BJ.

I hardly get any reception on my blackjack at home--if any. It's been ever since my alpha tags were switched to at&t. I use the sync more often because it does pick up a signal where my blackjack won't. I refuse to buy motorola because of the razr ordeal--I went through about 4-5 razr's whereas I had my blackjack for 4 months and it still works well. Only thing is that I have a nasty scratch on the screen that I don't know how to get rid of--but i'll try that scratch stuff for eyeglasses and see if that works.

IMHO, as far as reception is concerned, V3xx is the best phone in Cingular lineup.

I didn't have my V3xx with me so I can't directly compare, but my step-dad's V365 had MUCH better in-building reception than my 3125 yesterday when we went to our doctor's office.

Especially if you edit the seems and disable AMR-HR. Forcing AMR-FR instantly gives you ~30% more coverage.
