I recently went from the vx9800 to the env9900. I'm trying to transfer my contacts. I usually use bitpim, but the software tells me that the phone provider has locked me out from writing information to the phone. I downloaded QPST but i have not found a use for it yet as to unlock the phone for writing. Please help.

This has definitely been covered in a number of LG VX9900/LG enV threads in the general LG forum and/or in the VZW LG sub-forum--I'd check one of those (basically you should use the latest version of BitPim, version 1.0.0 or higher, if available). You can also use Backup Assistant which is a Get It Now application to backup your contact list and restore it (very useful when switching from one phone to another).

you kinda have to trick the phone. after the phone is detected on bit pim. go to settings and change the phone from the 9900 to 8700 (you'll switch it back later). after you've set it to the 8700, click get info from phone. click anything (lets just say get ringtone info, it doesnt really matter). after it does this a message will pop up, just hit continue. after this, go to settings and change the phone back to the 9900. now you can import anything you want into your 9900.

you must do this each time you open bitpim and connect to your phone, and want to transfer files.
