As in incentive for working with me, do you think they'll like them?

Are you that bad to work for that you need to bribe them Just kidding. But I wouldn't want one, other than to sell some poor fool on Ebay. But it is a VERY NICE gesture.

thanks, but ill pass. dont need a pos phone. are you that bad to work for.

wow, i would think ANY free phone would a nice incentive for ANY job place. I own a children's educational store, we sell books, toys, learning aids. i have around 11 employees and all of them except for one have been with me since i opened 5 years ago. I think its a great place to work.

Well, it depends.

If they already wanted an iPhone and they're willing to sign up for a new 2 year agreement and pay the extra dough for a data plan, then sure.

If they're locked into a contract with another cell phone provider, or would rather not spend the next 2 years paying AT&T $20/month for a data plan on top of their cell phone service thanks to your gift, then I don't think they'd like it too much. Few people appreciate receiving a gift that actually makes them spend money to use it.

On balance, I think this is one of those things where cash is probably preferable to bling. Everyone likes a $500 cash bonus!

They don't pay anything, I pay for their cell phone bills. I have been. I'm just upgrading their phones from 2 years ago, they all have RAZRS. So now they're getting Iphones.

Personally I wouldn't want one, but heck......if it's free I'll manage somehow . It's a nice way to show your employee's you appreciate them.

I think that getting a free iPhone from my boss would be absolutely marvelous, considering that in this day and age most employees only get a paycheck for hard work and loyalty.

Very nice gesture--I'd love it!

nice idea but you need to read at&t's website. on the iPhone page under FAQ. they state that business accounts cannot even buy iPhone right now or have it activated on their accounts. No business discounts will apply, not even IRU monthly service discounts. I don't want you to get your hopes up to be disappointed.

Yeah, but couldn't he just try to buy them outright? I think that would be the only way though, and depending on the number of phones that could get pricey.

not an Iphone fan, but I wouldn't turn down a free one!

yeah...so....uuhhh......are you hiring by any chance????

no there is not buying the phone outright. when you buy it in the store and go to activate it. itunes will determine eligiblity and add the contract to the account. thus. having an account under a fed tax id will come back ineligible. he will have to activate them on consumer accounts. there are many threads on this already.

Well that sucks! I will be signing new contracts, but I guess they don't want my money. LOL. That kinda sucks for businesses. Maybe since its a small business they will give me an ok? If anything, I'll check out the phones that sell on eBay, but you know some smart people are going to buy the phones just to resell them on eBay for 5times the amount.

You could buy them and have each employee activate it in their own name and just pay the bill.

I will try to get them, I have a friend that works for ATT, he's the one who hooked me up with my RAZRS a couple years ago, if he can't oh well. Maybe I'll get them something else, or might just wait it out.

I think its awesome that your doing that. Also having GOOD employees is getting harder to come by these days.....you have to take care of the good ones and let the bad ones ride!

Posted by: formercanuck

Watch that your employees don't go out and resell them on eBay

I have had only one bad employee, he stole from me, I gave him the boot and I pressed charges. I have really committed employees, and they're the ones who are making the company grow.

I say why the hell not? Back when the ipod came it was the popular gift for bosses to give to employees at corporations around here. People went kookoo when they got them.

Steve jobs just gave away one to every employee at Apple.
I'd love to get a free iPhone.

Posted by: opdaddy

Well, I was unable to get the Iphones for my employees. I haven't told them that I was getting them new phones. I might see when Business accounts can get them, if not, I might wait for the new RAZRS to come out. Oh well.
