Making TXT messages like Treo conversations on BB Curve?

I just got the curve yesterday and I'm liking it alot better than my treo 650. However the thing I loved most about my treo was the way it kept all txt messages to each individual in its own sorta chat for that person. I dont know if there is a way of configuring the curves oem software to do this or if there is a chat program from txt messages i need to investigate. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It does this by default on my Curve just like my 8700 and Pearl did. It threads them together in a chat and I didn't change any settings to achieve that.

All mesages go into the main messages folder. there is generally a separate message folder for each email account, but I don't think there is one for SMS. My guess is you need a chat program to do what you want to do.

If you don't erase the previous messages when you sms with someone it should show as a conversation where you can see the previous messages.

Actually you don't need a chat program and you can have your sms/mms messages displayed separately.

When I select to have my sms/mms mgs displayed separately, there is not icon generated in which to view them. I have hunted high and low... no luck. In fact if I recieve a sms/mms msg in this view mode, I only get an indicator that the msg exists but no icon to view them in unless I select the themed or combined option of sms/mms in the main msg icon.

I KNOW it was there earlier. I had a differennt curve for about 24hrs and the bottom at&t plasic piece kept falling off, so I returned it for another 8300 in better condition AND this newer model does not generate the separate icon!

Called tech support they said the phone is not right to return it. I go to the store and they tell me they are all like that. The rep even goes as far to open a new one, set it up, and send a txt to the phone.. no icon.. I'm confused and would really like the msgs to be displayed separately. Any thoughts?

Same issue on my curve. SMS threads end up under the "Messages" icon, along with other related mails and such. Would be much nicer if I could have a "Text" icon on the desktop and all SMS threads be directed there...

The following got me what I was looking for:

Press MESSAGES icon on desktop--> Press MENU --> scroll to OPTIONS --> Press GENERAL OPTIONS --> scroll to SMS AND EMAIL INBOXES --> select SEPARATE

Now my SMS/MMS threads are placed under a different icon than the Emails

The messages on the BB are close to the Treo but instead of showing all the messages coming in on your inbox it just shows one for each contact. It is nice when you carry on alot of conversations with different people cause you only have one spot for it in the inbox and not have to scroll down to the most recent message. Yes they both have the threaded once you open whichever message you want but it isn't as clean and easy as the Treo's is

But no there isn't any way to change it or add a program...been looking for awhile

There are pros and cons. I love the Treo's sms chat thread view, and yes, the clutter in the BB's inbox can get outrageous if we text a lot. However, on the BB, you can easily keep or save one particular message when you go and delete the strings of sms's. On the Treo, you kinda just delete the whole thread, or it starts auto-deleting the older messages when your thread gets too long... much like the BB messenger
