Feedback on the Siemens C56

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: RedVelocity

Well, just got this phone today, and here are my initial impressions.

Small Size!
Feels very fragile
Lots of Functionality, though user interface isn't as intuitive as my Ericsson R520.
Champaigne ain't my colour
Annoying Polyphonics...will change it soon.
RF is so so, compared to my R520M
Lack of accessories
No IR.

Cool Orange display (Personal Preference)
Promise of great accessories (Cheap) to come

picked one up also--its very very small...almost too small....its slips out of my hand sometimes-operating menu is not so great-kind of a pain to go through-i think RF is great-havent had this good reception in a long time, however, your ear has to be directly over the earpiece to hear, if you move your head slighly away, cant hear anything-i am pleased with it overall especially for 50 bucks...oh and speakerphone has great sound

I don't agree with it feeling fragile. Feels very solid to me. No creaks.

The UI is very easy once you are used to Siemens phones.

If you don't like the colour, change it like I did. I'm just waiting for the black cover as well.

I think the Rf is above average. On par if not a little better than my S55. Don't forget you're comparing it to the a phone that has argurably one of the best receptions.

I think it's a great fone. Great for customizing (all though IMO there isn't a single faceplate I have seen that I really really like)
Alot of great features, the RF is good not great but pretty damn good. I often find myself comparing RF to the P280 (as the reception that fone is excellent). I find the speaker fone decent louder than my old gd87 but not as loud as the s55. UI is simple aswell. All though I have played with the fone numerous times but don't own it if I had to buy another fone I would choose this one. Alot of non Siemens users have picked up this fone and are liking it alot... which is great to see... so many misconceptions about Siemens...

Actually I like the faceplate that comes with the C55 the best. I guess I'll have to get one from Europe cause it's not a optional accessory for the C56.

Synncere, thanks for incorporating the separate thread from Davis2020 into this one. Keep up the good work.

Thanks carsmovies
The c55 faceplate is nice tho I gotta agree with that!

Just a quick question for all that now have the C56. What f/w do you have. Mine is 19 which is funy cause the latest for the C55 is 18.

I already posted my feedback (first impression) in another thread, however, I must say I am very impressed by this phone.
Again, we're are talking about a phone that is almost free, so you cannot really go wrong by choosing one as main phone, temporary solution (while you're waiting for a more fancy, camera-built-in, color screen, coffee-maker incorporated, shower, etc etc LOL ) or backup phone.
RF are OK. I found the C56 performs just as good if not better than my other Nokias (8390) or Ericssons (T39).
So no complaints there.

Form factor... I love it! It's different than any other phone out there. I find it's actually quite solid to the touch even if it's so incredibly light weight. I think it's quite lighter than the 8390.
UI, it's OK. Not like Nokias... but it's ok for my taste. Simple, effective and practical. Like any other german thing.
It's basically the VW of the cellphone market, robust, fun to have yet a great phone (that is what ultimately is the purpose of having a cellphone).

SO, I give two thumbs up to Siemens for bringing this little phone (just in size...!) to North America.
I just hope Rogers will keep up the relationship with this great german phone manufacturer, and will bring the higher end devices such as the SL55, etc etc...

It's an exciting time for us cellular phone lovers. Things are moving faster than predicted with Rogers and in general in the wireless industry, hopefully this is a good sign for people like me that work in the Telecom sector. I hope this time next year, I'll be posting a review/feedback for the Siemens 3G (wCMDA/UMTS/EDGE/GRPS) phone... that would be awesome!

Just one question to all of you... accessories wise, what is the best place for buying Siemens OEM or compatible accessories on-line?

again, if you want to see some pics of my C56 close to other phones, just as comparison, you can go to http://members.rogers.com/pluigib/siemens.html

Peace and Love!

PS:Syncere... you're doing a great job with this Siemens forum. I hope this will not stop, because there is a few of us out there that wants something different that the usual Nokias or Ericsson's but don't know yet the Siemens brand and what great phones they make. Thanks again for your great work!
If you need a hand, feel free to ask!

This is the best place on line for Canadians. I ordered the orange faceplate for my C56 as pictured above and it arrived two days after. Great service.

The latest vsn for the c55 is 18... and I hate to mention the "C" word but I gotta do it ... I have heard alot of stories of a cracked version of 19 for the c55...

Anyways... @ GATTO----- Thanks for the kind words.

I'm also waiting for the black cover to come out as well. I've tried to find it everywhere in the GTA but no luck so far.

As for the RF, you're right, I am comparing it to probably one of the best phones ever in terms of RF, but I would still like a phone that performs as well.

Actually, to be truthful, I'm thinking of retruning this phone in favor of a v60g (same price from Rogers right now) Any opinions on this move...

I'm looking for in order of most important:
RF performance
Battery Life
Ergonomics
Easy of Use

Posted by: MaxR

how's the battery life of this C56? I find my Siemens S55 not doing very good in this area, I can get 2 days of normal use MAX out of the stock battery. I am sure I am not a heavy user too. I really miss the long battery life of Nokia phones =\

I used to use the v60g... great fone!! I found the RF to be really good (but not as good as P280... I haven't found a fone that compares to my old p280 RF wise)

I found the battery on the v60g the same as my s100... 2-3 days
on a single charge depending on talk time and that was with the fone always on too never turned it off. Ease of use... well it's super easy to use.

In my area I find the RF on both fones about the same...
If you're into the polytones and other extras feature wise I would go C56 but if you want a simple fone that's classy and simple take the v60g. If you haven't tried a v60g seriously go to a Rogers and ask to check it out... let them throw a sim in it and try it out.

I prefer the C56 only coz I am a feature person but the v60g is simple and steady I didn't notice any probs with it. I had a couple family members recently that wanted a simple fone nothing fancy so I bought them a V60g and a s40.

In the end it's up to you but choose on what features you want in a fone and choose your fone accordingly. Also make sure you try them out we're lucky that many Rogers stores offer that. My 2 cents anyways.

Thanks for the advice Synncere, I really appreciate it. If it's the same reception wise, then I might just keep my C56 then. I may just a more full featured phone when SE releases their T616 later this year.

Thanks once again

N/P. C56 is a great fone... the more you use it the more you'll take to it... then you'll find yourself saying SE T610...T616.... naaaaah I'll go Siemens SX1--- I'll have to convert all of you!! lolz. But in all seriousness You'll be glad you went with the C56
