Read email gone after retrieving on Treo 750

if i have any read email messages in my inbox when I click 'send/recieve' they will all dissappear. I have check all the settings and followed instructions from another post but stilll nothing.
what am i doing wrong? I am using pop3 email gmail and bellsouth accounts. thanks

Heres a fix that i know works for gmail.....
On ur gmail acct setting on the treo.. Email setup page 2/4.. U will see where u put in ur user information. The Box for user name type the following.. recent:yourname (meaning ur acct name) ... then ur pw in the pw box.... everything else remains the same.. that should work for the gmail issue..
