How do I load a movie to my iphone?

Ok, what are the requirements to load a movie to my iphone. I have movies in .avi, is it possible to load them to itunes via .avi or do I have to convert them. Itunes just gives me a black screen on the movies library. Any help would be appreciated.

Go get visualhub or something else to encode to ipod standard. I have to re-encode movies I have for apple tv to ipod spec to put em on there. But it looks great.

You have to convert the video file via itunes.

So, where do I find that option at in itunes, I have been looking high and low, but can't find it.

In iTunes, when you sync, your iPhone summary should come up.

From the summary, there are a few tabs. The last tab is video.

1) Click on the Video tab
2) There's a section for TV Shows and a section for Movies. The rest should be self explanatory.

Check in iTunes:
Under Library, that your movie or tv show is in either "Movies" or "TV Shows"...if it's not showing up there, you won't be able to sync it to your iPhone.

Let me know if it works for you. I tested out a free Battlestar Galactica episode from the iTunes store to test this and it works for me on my MacBook. But the instructions should work for Windows too.

Ok, still can't get this thing to work yet. I have to .avi video clips I tried to use. I have copied both to the desktop so I can add them to my library, but still a no go. I click on movies, try add file to library and tried importing. When I select the file and hit ok it just does nothing.

What am I doing wrong, will it not worrk with .avi files, what is going on. I am getting very mad now this is not working the way it should.

I don't think the iPHone/iTunes allows AVI. Anyone have anymore info on it? I know I had to convert it to m4v format or whatever iTunes allows, then once you have it in iTunes, sometimes it wont transfer over to the iPhone. You'll have to right click on the movie and select convert for iPhone. But you'll have to find a way to convert the AVI to MP4 or M4V. Do some searching and you'll find a few programs for it.

i believe this is correct, i have never been able to get .avi to work. i had to convert to mp4(i think, whatever itunes allows) then select convert to ipod/iphone.

if you just need to find the option to convert to ipod/iphone, on windows, just view your movies, right click the movie you want to convert and select convert to ipod/iphone. you can only convert one at a time.
