BitPim no longer detecting phone

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was able to use BitPim just fine and load some ringtones onto my phone. Now, when I connect to BitPim, I can click on the Blue I and get my phone's information, but the phone detection is failing.

Also, I updated the drivers and that didn't help and I'm using the latest version of BitPim.

When I browse the Com Port, the port shows the Moto USB Modem on COM4. Still, no phone is being detected.
I've tried everything I can think of. What am I doing wrong???

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Alltel with a V3m
Thanks

I am stuck. I even uninstalled and reinstalled bitpim....

suggestions please!!!!

Um, BitpIm doesn't natively support the V3M... so it can NOT autodetect that phone...

You must manually BROWSE and pick the com port... and manually configure it for the V3Cm...

I did manually browse and configured to the V3Cm.....I still can't get it to detect my phone...

this is so weird because I've used it just fine in the past...I just can't figure out what I've done different this time....

any other suggestions?

Thanks

If your phone is not natively supported, or can not be auto-detected, you must manually configure bitpim for your phone. To manually configure BitPim for your Phone (V3M users pick V3C, V3MM users pick V3CM). Do this by clicking Settings from the Edit pull down menu. Use the Phone Type Box to select your model phone, or "Other CDMA Phone." Even if you know the "com port" DO NOT manually set it. Instead, click the Browse button to the right of the Com Port. A window will pop-up and scan ports. It will have 3 "sections" listing Available Ports, Ports Not Available, and Inoperable Ports. Select your phone (Motorola USB Modem) from the listing of Available Ports and Click OK.

did it...still doesn't work...what I am forgetting...I know I got this to work before...
could there be a problem with the driver?--or some other problem you might think of?

Thanks

Exactly what do you mean by "Still doesn't work"...????

Exactly what steps are you taking?

What happens?

Do you get an error?

Do you not see your Moto USB Modem under Active ports?

i.e. More Details Please.

I want to be sure you are NOT still trying to use BitPim's Detect Phone from the Edit Pull down? because no matter what you do that will NOT work since the V3M is not natively supported by BitPim.

I have plugged my phone into the computer via USB....I opened BitPim...I clicked on "edit" and then "settings" in Phone type, I selected v3C. I selected Browse and chose the motorola USB modem under the Available modems list. I clicked ok to save my changes. In the tool bar on the top, I click on the phone icon (find phone) and get a message that says "phone detection failed...no phone detected/recognized...run settings? yes/no"

If I click yes, it takes me back to the settings...

I don't know if this matters or not, but there is some communication between the phone and bitpim because I can click on the blue i icon (phone information) and the phone info dialog comes up with my phone number, model, etc.

wait just a freakin minute....i figured it out......ok...i'm embarassed to say, but this might help somebody else out.....I was not checking the boxes on the "get phone info" so the OK button was not able to be clicked......

OK...now I got my info off my phone and onto the computer and started to send the ringers back to my phone....

now, I'm getting a message that says "the phone is not responding while transitioning mode from phonebook to brew." -- what's up with that?
