I just got a Treo 750 and I am old ATT wireless customer. I dont do lot of web surfing on the mobile devices, but I do want the flexibility of accessing the net anywhere and check my emails. Maybe stream some music from home using Orb. I certainly dont want to pay for full PDA internet plan as this will become too expensive an interest for me...
Anyway, is there any plan around $20/month without contract that I could take which could give me unlimited internet access, something like MediaMax200, that I saw on cingular site.. I dont even know if I qualify for that either...

I live in 3G area, so would the speed that I would receive on that plan be EDGE/GPRS or UTMS high speeds.....What do I need to do in order to add that service.

Also, There is a constant "U" displayed on the top bar of my phone. I am not using internet at the moment, and I fear that wireless radio for internet is on and is using up battery life. Is there anyway I could disable the internet access whenever not needed to save battery life and unnecessary internet data cost for right now????

The "U" simply means UMTS; it's kinda like HSDPA. It is just letting you know that if you did use the internet, that it would be faster. It's just a simple icon change, no charges are being accessed. Since you don't don't a lot of surfing, I would suggest a Wifi card (which will allow you to surf for free; provided that you are in a wifi area). Also, any plan you pick other than a data plan (ever for casual surfing) will eat up you bit usage (which is how Cingular/at&t) charges you. So if you don't want a data plan (unlimited is only 39.99) you might as well go with the wifi card.
