Texas Hold'em. Hands down (no pun intended).

Marble Madness, using the Accelerometer, of course.

^^ +1 .........

Lets not forget the cell phone must: Bejeweled

Posted by: MDesigner

Bejeweled, Tetris, yes!

Civilization?? Are you kidding? This is a phone, man, not a gaming platform!

Marble Madness..maybe. I think judging from the accelerometer tech video on Apple.com, it only knows two positions.. it can't judge positions in between. I could be wrong though.

^ I agree we need a version of Hold'em both local and online.

Another mobile game mainstay I'd like to see is Tetris though it will be interesting to see how they will implement that using the touch screen.

Actually, if you try the Photos application, it flips pictures in all four directions, so the accelerometer is a true 4-way. Whether or not it's analog or digital (meaning variable strength and direction or just absolute direction), that could affect the gameplay.

Any game you could zoom in with the pinch would be good too, so count me in for Civilization too.

I just remembered this awesome game for the Windows Mobile devices. It's called Lejjo (kinda like Jello).

http://www.clickgamer.com/screenshots.htm?pid=178

Basically, you're this gelatinous thing and you have to rotate the field to manipulate the Lejjo's direction in order to get to the exit. Really fun to play.

I'm just thinking if the accelerometer can be tapped, you can make a game like this, or like Marble Madness, or even a combination of Pac-Man and Marble Madness where you control the Pac-Man by tilting the iPhone in the direction you want him to move to.

That would be AWESOME!

OK, it looks like the accelerometer knows three positions. Upright, horizontal (to the left), horizontal (to the right). And I believe it's a digital on/off state.. it doesn't know variations in between each position. So I don't think games like this would work out Bummer. BUT I could be wrong. I'm just going by the tech video on Apple's web site.

It can also do upside-down. Try it, go to the Photo Gallery and flip the iPhone in all directions.

Madden 08 would be amazing

I'd be happy with flippin' hang man for now if I didn't have to connect to EDGE to play it. I really miss games on my phone

Posted by: mongoos150

Battery life is bad enough without me playing games on it!

Yes, offline for everything. This is the unfortunate thing about the web apps we're seeing...

And ikenstein - YES!!! I haven't played Dope Wars since the days of my Handspring Visor!

There already is one. It uses images for the cards, though, which means if you lose your network connection, unless you've cached all the cards your game quickly comes to an end. http://macmost.com/iphonegames/Solitare/
