Internet Via Edge/gprs, But Not Via Wi-fi

I own an HTC Exclaibur (Tmobile Dash). I recently switched from Tmobile to Cingular for better cell coverage. I can detect and connect to the Wi-Fi from my home's wireless router, but I can't connect to the Internet. Screen just sits there for awhile saying "Locating...". Then a get "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later." When I was with Tmobile I could access Internet via Wi-Fi. I CAN use internet over Cingular wireless system via EDGE/GPRS.

Any suggestions?

Also, how do I connect to other non-secure Wi-Fi? I assume that the network type is "Internet", that the connection is not device to device, the "key is automatically provided", data encryption is disabled, network key is left blank(?), key index is 1.

Is this right or do you need to know specific info about each non-secure wireless network in order to connect to it?

Try and adjust your wifi power mode to "best performance" in your wifi settings. Try this first, then post if you are still unable to connect via wifi.

If still no connection, then it must be security, etc with your home connection.

Tried "Best Performance" as I was set on "Best Battery". Still no internet. How could the problem be security, etc. with my home connection when my phone shows that I AM connected to my wireless router.

Any ideas as to which kind of security items to look for?

Do you maybe have a proxy server set up to use with GPRS that your wifi connection doesn't like?

CAn you provide any guidance for determining if this could be the case - I'm a relative newbie to this technology.

Thanks.

well there also can be something wrong with the settings... when you whiched over to cingular there are different network settings... what you can do is find those setting on the forums and try and set thos settings up in the phone and you should have better performance and also better connectivity.
