I went to an AT&T store (mistake #1) to add a 3rd line and I picked up on of the demo iPhones to play around with (mistake #2). And needlesstosay.....I fell in love. I've been a Mac guy forever now and I tried to stay away from the buzz and all with the iPhone but I just had to get one.

I won't be leaving the PPC forum as this is my home.

Just call me a swinger.

Good for you! Enjoy it! I will live "vicariously" through my wife's iPhone - whenever she can get one!

Be careful. This is a very fun phone.

I'm doing the same thing. I need to get her a new phone, she needs one badly and her iPod has seen better days, so I figured between the 2, I might as well just get her an iPhone.

She doesn't care about 3rd party apps and 3G, so she is cool with it. As long as she can use the iPod part, make calls, get some email and text, she is a happy camper.

She'll love the iPhone.

I think you will initially love the iPhone, my question is after about 2 weeks, will you come to accept the limitations in the hardware and UI or will you get frustrated and move back.

The main limitation I have right now is the lack of Cut and Paste. That was one of the main reasons I came back to WM Professional after a brief interlude with the BlackJack. Apple does make up with this somewhat with a very unique UI and after a day I'm still excited (which does say something...believe it or not).

I have always tried to mimic the Mac look on my PPC's and this is finally my day. For now I am having fun.

The form factor is a huge kicker for me and I think this is getting overlooked right now. Once you hold one and spend a few minutes with it (if you haven't already)......you'll see what I mean

And.....full email viewing is awsome. No more plain text.

Oh I think the UI is definately slick and snappy. There just seem to be more and more posts in the Apple forum about what ppl are left with after the excitement dies down.

I would really love to hear your opinion of that phone (here in the lounge) 3 weeks after you have been using it. By that time, the excitement will have died down, the honeymoon will be over and you will have a really good objective view of the iPhone. At that point I want to hear if the phone's shortcomings can be overlooked in everyday use.

Just picked up one for my wife at 5th Ave. It makes sense anyways since she's been on Verizon even before we got married.

59th and 5th.

Wow....all I have to say is that this device is simply awesome! Sure it doesn't do as much as my Treo can, but what the iPhone does, it does real well. After using it for a couple of hours, I can say that I am truly impressed.

Who the f cares what it CAN do, it looks pretty!

Bleh. I refuse to use one. I will not dumb myself down just to get a pretty UI. I have standards, and THIS is not it!

Use one (like I have) for a couple of hours and you'll feel differently. It'll make WM6 feel absolutely primitive.

...Until you try third-party applications, at which point the iPhone's EDGE radio feels absolutely primitive.

All "low blows" aside, I finally got to an Apple store today to try the iPhone. Its UI is, as I expected, utterly spectacular and (hard as it is for me to say) lightyears beyond Windows Mobile at this point. Even the on-screen keyboard was easier to type on than I thought it would be, though EDGE is frustratingly slow on such a slick device.

But is it for me? No, I still need an integrated hardware keyboard to dash off quick e-mails on the go. I need stereo Bluetooth support for my beloved Moto S9 headphones. I need Office document editing capabilities, robust IT management and real third-party application support.

So no, the iPhone isn't for me, but wow, I can sure see what all the hubbub is about.
