Setting up MEdia Net on unlocked Motorola KRZR

I just bought a Motorola KRZR K1 world phone new off ebay. Everything works correctly except the data. I tried the settings off the AT&T website: https://www.wireless.att.com/suppor...nt=KB74281.html and also off someone else's RAZR. Both of these settings produced the message that "GPRS Is Not Available". Something different in the settings from the instructions and my phone is that instead of Gateway IP 1, I have Proxy IP 1. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Any suggestions?

Gateway IP 1 is the same thing as Proxy IP 1. I have an unlocked KRZR and the MEdia Net settings from AT&T's support page work just fine.
Make sure you set it as the default connection.

Well I figured out the problem, but not a solution. It's because I'm using a 3G SIM card in this non-3G phone. I tried a non-3G SIM card I have and it worked perfectly. If I ask them, would they give me a non-3G SIM card?

The fact that there is a 3G badge on that SIM card, is not the problem. However there must be something different between the two....like, do you actually have medianet on your account? data isn't getting blocked is it? etc.

There seems to be some problems as of late with the new AT&T branded 3G SIM cards not working properly in some Unlocked/Unbranded phones.
Hmmmm.. makes you wonder if AT&T is cracking down?

I think that is exactly the issue because the card I'm calling 3G is the AT&T branded one and the other one is a Cingular 64K smartchip one. I would not have thought that the 3G badging would make a difference so I definitely think it has to do with the new AT&T SIM cards. Unfortunately, that still leaves me without Media Net...

Yikes! Is this true? I just got a second Cingular/AT&T prepaid SIM that has the 3G mark and the new one doesn't work in my phones with the same settings that worked with the old SIM.

i have a v3i unbranded in need gprs settings and how do i check to see if its sim locked without a foreign sim via gsm code?

Hmmnnn, I'm a vzw user and was considering switching to att for a few reasons, one being the availability of unlocked phones and able to travel overseas and use a local sim, is this att's way to "lock down" on that?

I've used an AT&T branded 3G SIM card with an ul/ub Moto V9, Moto V8 and SE k790a without a whimper or lack of performance. But, when I called AT&T CS recently to request a subsidy unlock code for a BlackBerry...the rep warned me that I might not be able to access all of the AT&T features, and my performance might suffer using the phone unlocked...

I have never heard that until recently. Baldi...you might have a point...
